Once we explained what had happened, the police left with Mark still in their custody. My guess would be that he's going away for a long time, especially since Damien told them about him abusing me in the past. Now it was just Damien and I in the apartment, unless you count Mark's blood. While I rushed over to hug Damien, I tripped on my glass coffee table, resulting me falling into Damien embracing arms. Damien rocked me a bit before setting me back on my feet. The sudden affection towards me made me feel, different. Like something I've never felt before. At that moment in time, I felt loved.

Whatever the fall did to me gave me a boost of confidence, so much that I stood up on my tippy toes and planted a kiss on Damien's lips. Damien looked down with a look of surprise painted on his face.

"Thank you Damien. Thank you for freeing me from what was holding me back." I said. I meant it with all my heart. Because of him, nothing is holding me back from what I want to do with my life.

"No problem Mae. We should probably clean that blood up now." Damien said. I don't know how hard he was hit, but looking around,Mark's blood was all over my carpet.

"Do you know how to get blood out of carpet?" I've never had to clean up blood so I wouldn't know.

"Yep, it's a very simple process. Here, let me show you." He said taking my hand, leading me into what I assume to be, a very interesting rest of my life.
