Lucy found herself working in the new police department, where unluckily, she was put in charge of those incarcerated. She had however, not once seen Natsu Dragneel here ever since she been assigned here. Even before she worked here, she knew in how much trouble the man would get, and decided to avoid anything to do with him. To even stop thinking about him, and overtime, she did manage to keep him out of her mind. However, being assigned to the new police station in Magnolia, where he often found himself locked up, brought back old memories.
She loved Magnolia, and had fond memories of the area from when she was a kid. She moved to Crocus after having finished her police training and being sent there. Who would've imagined that she would've ended up being moved back to her home town? At first she was thrilled, she'd live near to Levy again! She'd live near to Gray! She'd live near to Erza and Wendy! She'd live near to!—Him.
Lucy felt the slow night get to her, she was on duty to watch those incarcerated but currently no one was incarcerated. A free shift? She flipped through one of her favorite magazines, Sorcerer Weekly, feeling more alone than ever. It had been like this recently, not that she was complaining. Either the police were having a hard time catching criminals of he number of criminals had decreased, she'd guess the first option.
A heard one of the police cars park outside, recognizing the siren anywhere. She directed her attention to the front door, wondering if some cop just came here for a break or someone had actually been caught.
"Hey! Let go of me! I didn't even do anything this time!" The familiar voice snapped. Lucy's eyes widen, it couldn't have been him, could it? Almost as if with some hidden force, the door slammed open, revealing the two cops who forced the handcuffed man inside. He continuously struggled but it was 2 versus 1, we all know how that'd turn out. Lucy watched as the men brought the convicted criminal inside the cell, and practically threw him on the ground. It hurt her to see him like this, she wouldn't lie, but a new bond had formed after Highschool. One where they would constantly hate on each other.
"Gotcha one to take care of today Lu, if he gives you any trouble, don't hesitate to ask." One of the officers said.
"I didn't do anything!" Natsu snarled as he head butted his forehead onto the cell bars.
"You may have not done anything today, but we recently found out you were the one who robbed the convenience store, 2 months ago."
Lucy could immediately see him draw in a sharp breathe from that remark, he probably didn't think he'd be caught months after but he was.
"Back at it again, are we?" Lucy huffed in annoyance, "You do the crime, you do the time."
"Shut it." He growled before finding one of those rotten metal seats, to make himself comfortable.
"You know each other?" An officer asked.
"I do, and would rather not see his face here anymore." Lucy couldn't seemed more pissed to have that pink haired menace in her presence.
"You might not have to." The officer's words caught her attention, "We recently dug up info that this boy is an immigrant. We'll send him back to whatever country he came from, whether Bosco, Stella, Joya, or even Pergrande Kingdom, and soon enough he'll be someone else's problem."
Lucy's eyes widened and her throat suddenly felt dry, why did she feel like this when hearing that? She turned to face Natsu, who had overheard and practically shrunk into his own seat, obviously avoiding contact. He was going away... Forever?
The police officers wrapped up their conversation with a bit of laughter as they exited the building. They must've been happy that Natsu was leaving and was no longer going to show his face in the police station ever again, but Lucy, she still couldn't figure out how she felt about this. She hated him, right? She wanted him gone, right? Why did she feel as if the world was crashing down now that she got her wish?
After the officers left, the room remained quiet for a bit longer until Lucy decided to speak up.
"So... You're going back to your country?" She cursed her awkward tone.
"Yup." He simply said, with a touch of anger in his voice.
"I didn't know your were an immigrant." She continued.
"Now you know." He only expressed discontentment in his face. It remained awkwardly quiet again before Natsu spoke up.
"Trial is tomorrow. There gonna see if I have a reason to stay here."
"Which there isn't, a criminal record and unemployed. They'll see you as garbage that they could do without."
"The only garbage I see is the girl who betrayed me all those years ago." Natsu shot back.
"I didn't betray you." She abruptly stood up and glared at him, "You broke into a home and stole their stuff! Was I supposed to let you get away?!" She practically yelled at him from her seat.
"A friend would've." The room suddenly got quiet after he said that. It was odd to recall that they had a friendship once.
"Well if it isn't obvious enough, we aren't friends." She cold said, "Have fun in whatever country you're going to."
"It's Ishgar. Father brought me here because of how controlling the government got." Their conversation had somehow found its calmness all over again. Lucy could easily speak lies about how she felt, but her heart couldn't deny it. She felt some sort of anguish, knowing she'll never see him again. Her night shift ended rather peacefully after that, although the quiet awkwardness laid in plain site. As Lucy left the other officer in charge, she glanced back at Natsu who raises his gaze and coincidentally met her's. He couldn't exactly pinpoint it, but he was sure there was a look of sorrow in them.

This was originally suppose to be an RP idea with my RP partner, but they seemed to show such enthusiasm for the idea and kinda made me want to write it down like as a fanfic too. I might still RP it though and get ideas from that too, so Ima thank them for any ideas that are to come. We still aren't in the big part of the story. More will be explained about their past later~ feedback would be nice and greatly appreciated, especially since I wrote this late at night, I apologize for my mistakes.
By the way, I'm not good with titles u.u
