The Swordsmen sat around their temporary camp just outside of Falkreath at the base of a mountain. Set out by the temporary leader of the Knights, they were to insure the protection of the Falkreath hold.
These Knights were Léon King, Sebastian Carter, Këllin Schwartz, Aura Veilberg, Sjolf Jergen.POV: Léon King
I sat down next to the campfire, on a grindstone observing my surroundings and taking a deep breath of the Falkreath air while sharpening my old blade. From what I've learned from my book studies as a Pawn of Skyrim, is that this hold held a darker past given its large graveyard, causes a strange and horrid gloom to fall upon the small town. Shortly after the Dovahkin arrived and helping out the people of the town, the gloom dissipated, making the air clearer and sweeter to breath in.
I sighed, thankful that the Dovahkin was able to do so much for this province I've called home for the past 15 years. Sadly, he wasn't able to do anymore to help after almost two centuries past after his death and the province get pulled back into a civil war
"Léon." A voice called to my left.
"Yes, Këll? Did you need something?" I answered, returning to sharpening by blade.
"Uh... How'd you know it was me?" Këllin asked.
I looked up at him, my blue eyes piercing directly into his sea green eyes.
"Are you going to ask that question when you've known me for all life and we grew up in Cyrodil and spent all those years training to be a Knight together?"I asked in reply.
He scratched his head, his body language telling me that he asked that in the spur of the moment.
"Right. You forgot to think. I know it's strange with the two new members but we have to make do with whoever we have left." I told him, continuing to sharpen my old blade.
"Yeah, you're right."
He sighed "It's just a little strange that we have to deal with this whole civil war with only 50 people, before it was like what? 5,000 Knights?" Këll continued, huffing before sitting down on a log.
I stared at his hunched back, feeling sad for my best friend. Sitting up from the grindstone I sat next to him.
"I believe there used to be 5,500 Knights. 2,000 Pawns, 2,500 Queens, and 1,000 Knights including the King. But, besides that, the whole civil war that Skyrim is in, isn't our fault. We're not even obligated to help fix the province, but we want to. I don't like seeing my home in turmoil, even if it's not Cryodil." I rubbed his back to assure him.
He sighed and gave me a hug before going back to his tent after mumbling a thanks and a goodnight. I sat up, wiping my hands on my trousers before grabbing my bow and slinging on my two quivers filled with both iron tip and steel arrows. I grabbed by newly sharpened yet very old Imperial Sword and my two steel daggers and placed them in their holsters on my belt, before walking towards the trees outlining our camp.
I stopped at one particular tree before knocking on the trunk, the hallow thuds sounded throughout the forest before it returned into its peaceful silence. Soon after, I heard the crunch of the leaves before I saw my friend Sebastian in front of me.
"Did you need something?" He whispered, staring at me.
"Switch." I replied, crossing my arms.
He nodded and climbed back into the tree only to drop back down after a minute or so with a dimly lit lantern.
He handed the lantern to me, before walking back towards the camp without another word. I watched him for a bit, then grabbed the lantern handle and began to climb the trunk before stopping at the third branch and setting the lantern in between the form of the branch and laying down horizontally. I stared out into the forest to keep watch, humming every now and then. I saw out of the corner of my eye the campfire dim down, just enough to lit the camp for a bit. I sighed and laid down, ready for the night to come.POV: Sebastian Carter
Walking back to the camp I thought over what I had heard during my watch. Surprisingly I spotted a patrol of Imperial soldiers on their way to Falkreath. Of course they didn't see me,
The canopy and brush of the forest was enough to cover me and I never really spoke much anyways. Léon told me to listen in on any conversations that I can hear while I'm on watch.
The conversation included words of their plans on taking control of all the surrounding Whiterun and Solitude, with or without permission from the Jarls. I know that our camp used to be a Stormcloak camp from back in the time of the last Dovahkin about two centuries ago, but hearing that the Empire is becoming desperate enough that it's going to take as many holds it can by force was shocking. I felt close to grabbing my bow and shooting them down so I could have their orders to take over the holds, but I knew that Léon would be very upset at how bad I keep my anger in check.
I wanted to tell him when he came to switch but I could tell that he wasn't in the mood to hold a conversation at all so I just went along with his instruction. I'll tell him in the morning or I could just go to Këllin and inform him of what I had heard since all three of us came from Cyrodil and have been life long friends alongside being Shieldbrothers when we were just kids.
I just wonder how Aura reacts when I tell my brothers.
I stepped inside of my tent, laying my weapons on top of my chest before laying down onto the bed. I stared at the roof of my tent as the campfire flickered. I stayed up studying the shadows as they danced across the walls, lulling me slowly to sleep.

A/N: so that's my first story with over 1,000 words in a chapter, 1,036 words in fact, so I hope it's good and not boring because I had to push to write over 1,000 words. I am going to bring back up my other story, Fallen Angel, on my old account back to here with the title of Fallen, so just check that out. If you guys read the old prologue for this book, it followed and started a different story than it is now so I apologize if you don't like this.
If you want me to write a zombie apocalypse story though, comment on this.
If you like this story so far, comment and vote maybe?
See y'all next chapter
