Chapter 6

I arrived at the school 5 minutes before the bell rang. I was still not used to the fact of how big the school was. My last, night school, was nothing compared to this.

I started walking down the parking lot, my destination being my locker. My bag was too heavy on my shoulders as I didn’t get the chance to replace my books back in my locker yesterday before running out of the school.

I could see the entire popular crowd hanging around what seemed to be a very expensive looking silver car. I gave it no notice and kept on walking, until suddenly, I could feel a pair of eyes burning holes in my face and the tingles in my stomach told me who it was. Not wanting to attract attention to myself, I quickly looked away from the crowd and started staring straight ahead, determined not to catch ‘His’ gaze.

I hadn’t taken two more steps, when out of nowhere a mass of red hair attacked me and grabbed me in a tight hug.

“Omg where were you all day yesterday?!” Rose literally yelled at me, way too loud for my comfort. But before I could reply to her question she continued on talking in her enthusiastic manner, not giving me a chance to reply back.

“I knew I said I wasn’t going to be there for calculus but I looked for you everywhere during lunch. I even missed getting yesterday’s pizza because of you! AND I searched everywhere for you during art and biology! It was like you disappeared from the face of the earth! Did you get abducted or something?! I’m pretty sure I don’t believe in aliens but hey, what do I know. If there can be werewolves and vampires, than heck why can’t there be Aliens!” She rambled on still half yelling and throwing accusations at me about how it was my fault that she went home hungry yesterday and also something more about wolves and vampires. I just looked at her wondering about her sanity. Is everyone at this place crazy? First there was Jared yesterday and his insane behavior and now I seemed to have found the loudest and the craziest person in this school wanting to be friends with me and right now she was talking about mythical creatures like they go to our school. Why oh why do you hate me so much God!

By now the entire parking lot’s attention was on us. I was feeling very uncomfortable and was trying to get my tough exterior back up. Don’t show any weakness Lexi. Shoulders back, chin up, stomach in. don’t let anyone get the chance to take the upper hand on you. I kept chanting the same things over and over again in my head while the crazy red head in front of me continued on talking/yelling.

After a few minutes of being yelled at, I saw a black haired guy break away from the group around Jared and walk towards me and Rose. He seemed to be quite muscular, with a broad chest and thick heavy arms. If I didn’t know any better, I would be sure he was a world class body builder, but seeing as most guys around the school were built like him I just assumed my very first assumption, there was definitely something in this place’s water. He came and stood behind Rose, wrapping his arms around her small waist and leaned in to kiss her cheek affectionately, affectively shutting her up.

“Babe you’re making Jared’s girl uncomfortable and scared. She seems like a lost deer caught in the headlight” he said while smirking slightly at me.

This caused Rose to actually look at me like I’m a human and notice my face and stance for the first time since she arrived. Noticing my internal panic and discomfort her eyes went wide and her hand shot up to her mouth as a gasp escaped her mouth.
