Waiting alone on the oak bench, I breathed in the scent of grass and daisy flowers around me. The sound of fireworks with the warmth of summer time in Japan mixing together overwhelmed me.

Grinning at me, he said, "Lets go and watch fireworks tonight!". I saw the glint in his eyes as he exclaimed at me happily. I nodded to indidcate agreement.

He promised to meet me at seven in the evening. This will be our first date. I couldn't help the blush on my cheeks to escape.

He, Scott Watson, a Dutch guy from my class who asked me out last month after the March test.  He has light brown eyes which sparkles whenever he is happy that matches his wavy brownish black hair. He has perfect features and face shape which makes him look strong yet cute like a child. His red lips and pearly whites are so beautiful that whenever he smile, all the girls will fall for him. He is known as one of the bad boys in our school.

I looked at the round clock on the building which showed five minutes past seven. Closing my eyes, I inhaled more air into my lungs enjoying the scent around me.

"Senya." I heard my name and turned around to see him walking towards me with a warm smile on his face. He wore black plaid shirt with white and blue stripes and a brown khaki that suites him so well.

"Hey, sorry I was late", he said looking into my dark brown eyes. I felt my cheeks getting seared and responded to him, "It's okay".

When he saw my outfit, he cried, "When talking about fireworks obviously you have to wear yukata , right? Why aren't you wearing it? This is the first time we are watching fireworks together on our first date, so of course you have to wear it, Senya.”

Because we are in Japan, wearing yukata is one of the traditions when watching fireworks. I looked down at my guise and thought to myself. 'Is it fremd if I wear a short lace dress with a denim jacket?', I asked myself. I ignored my thoughts for once since I realized that what Scott told me was true. Looking up at him with the onus on my face, I mumbled "Sorry".

His face softens and relaxes upon hearing my apology. Smiling and swaying his right hand back and forth like a politician, he said "Nah, it's okay. Your dress is cute too." I blushed at his kudos and flashed him a small smile.

"Let's go." He took my hand in his warm one, mustering a warm smile to and started walking towards the entrance. I looked at his huge hand holding mine and blushed again. 'Ugh! How many times are you going to blush Senya?! Don't let him see your face burning red like a shrimp!'  I told myself with frustration. I kept my eyes on his back as I was too shy to amble beside him.

It's been almost a month and a half I'm dating Scott. He always told me that he liked me. Until today, I haven't even told him that I liked him as well. My stupid mouth just couldn't let the words out. But today, on our first date, I wanted to tell him that I liked him too. I was just waiting for the right moment.

When we got to the bridge, there were already many people especially young couples scattered everywhere. Most of them were hugging and holding each other's hand.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The sound of fireworks blasted with a loud flare-up and the beautiful colors of the fireworks made the dark sky colorful and brighter. The formations of the fireworks were so beautiful and stunning that I thought I couldn't breathe for a jiffy. It was incredibly breathtaking and magnificent at the same time. I was loss of words at the moment to describe the spectacular view of the fireworks.

I didn't noticed that Scott was behind me until he enclosed his arms around me and  cried out my name happily like a kid just found his mom. "Senya!".  Surprised, I let out a cry and turned to faced him. Shock and sadness were written all over his face. I started to felt guilty for being such a girl to him. What will he think of me?
