The Sky world is the unknown world that floats above Earth, we can see the humans but the humans connot see us, in all my life I have never been to Earth, for it is a place where murder criminals are exiled. I always wonder what it would be like on Earth; Father describes it to be dark, dirty and deathly, the land where Hell reigns. The funny thing is, Father hasn't actually been down to Earth so how would he know, sometimes I question his knowledge, though I am forbidden to ever confront him. Puerly because I wouldn't like to live the consequence.
Today is the day of the light festival. Every year us skylings celebrate this day in rememberance of Garathia (the Goddess of light) who created the Heavens and named it the Sky world where we live today. My Father (the King) is going to make a big announcement on the cloud of gold where Garathia blessed the kingdom to last forever! After that there is going to be partying throughout the neighbourhoods and towns; and special food will be served and ate by the citizens of the glorious sky world. I just can't wait till noon, that is when it will all start.
Two Hours Later
" Mother I can't choose a dress to wear" I shouted through the palace doors, it was either my dark turquiose satin dress or my sparkly gold top and black skirt. "I will send Deliya to help you," Mother replied; Deliya was an expert on fashion and she definitely knew what looked good on me, I remember when I was young she was hired to dress me, now I'm older I can dress myself but over the years Deliya has become a friend of the family.
"Hello Azealia, your Mother was just telling me you didn't know wha- Oo this one looks beautiful, wear this dress," she said holding up the dark turquiose satin dress . "Yes, but the other outfit is nice too," I really didn't know which dress was better, "Azealia the other outfit is not suitable for the occasion, especially not for when your Father is to make his big speech on the cloud of gold. It is beautiful, but I think you should save it for another time." Deliya said on final note, when Deliyah made up her mind there was no going back so I guess I was to wear the dark turquoise satin dress.
"You know you have to make a speech as well as your Father, the people have picked you and normally it is not a royal who is chosen to make the second speech, the skylings think highly of you and I want you to look your best-", Deliyah stopped, she looked puzzled by my expression. "Azealia, you do know what you are going to say, don't you?" she said slowly. "Father did not tell me, I haven't prepared anything to say, oh Deliyah what am I going to do," I put my head in my hands, this was so unlike Father, he always told me when I was meant to make a speech, I even asked him at breakfast which skyling was going to do the second speech and he replied 'It is a surprise to us all' I had no idea what Father had meant so I didn't persist the question, little did I know it was me. Then it occurred to me Father lied to me, he hadn't bothered to tell me - "It is okay, your Father is a busy man and plus I bet you can think of something on the spot," Deliyah said, trying to make light of the situation, "I must leave I will hope to see you at the light festival and hear your speech." With that she left me. Maybe Deliyah was confused, surely I couldn't be chosen for the second speech, imagine, Azealia the princess who couldn't deliver the second speech on the light festival how disapointing. I had to see Father, I just needed to know if it were true.
I hurried down the spiral stairs of the palace to the second floor, I turned and opened the door of Father's bedroom "Father, is it true-" I halted in mid-sentence; there was a beautiful olive skinned woman touching Father's cheek, though she jumped away once she saw me, "I was just leaving, now you can talk to your Father," she spoke as passing by me out the door.
"Azealia how is it that you are my daughter and you still don't have the common curtsey to knock," Father said clearly irritated, "Now what is it you barged in for?" he asked, "Is it true that I shall say the second speech today?" I said looking down. "Yes, yes quite true, who told you?" he had a funny look in his eyes, a look I couldn't trust. "Um ah I just um heard some of the servants speaking about it," I lied. "Father why didn't you tell me, I haven't prepared at all," I said failing to keep the slight disapointment out of my voice, "Well I did say it was a surprise," he replied cooly, "You are a princess, you live lavishly, you can say a speech any day, it comes naturally being a royal, you do not not need a lot of time to prepare a speech like a commoner, you do not live that lifestyle. Ok." he finished. "Yes of course Father, I guess it was just a surprise," I said and tip toed out of his bedroom.
Deliyah hadn't been lying, well I hope that being optimistic will help because I have no idea what to say, I'm just going to put on what I'm wearing and hope for the best, fingers crossed I wan't screw this up.
