Suzuno hopped into his car driving as quickly as he could to Kidokawa Seishuu. Something Mrs. Kishibe said wasn't adding up and he was going to find out what it was. He got to the school in record time and watched the game as it played out. He found a boy with similar hair to Mrs. Kishibe's hair and assumed he was her son by the captain's band on his arm.
"He looks like her and I look her. It just has to be her."
Mrs. Kishibe ran down the sidewalk as quickly as her feet would take her. "Please let the game still be in. Please. I can't let them meet each other." She ran faster after removing her heels bumping into people as she woke her way through the crowd.
The game finished with the win in Kidokawa's favor. Suzuno waited until the players left the stadium and called Kishibe over to him. "I have some questions to ask you."
Kishibe raised an eyebrow but shrugged and answered his questions anyway.
*~*
Mrs. Kishibe stood outside of the large stadium trying to catch her breath. "Hold on Taiga. I'm coming." She used the last of her strength to run into the building and find her son. "Taiga there you are. Are you ok? Did you talk to any strangers? Please tell me my little boy is alright."
"Whoa. Calm down mom. I'm fine. But I have a few questions to ask you." Kishibe guided his mother to a seat close to them.
"Or rather we." Suzuno looked up at her from the aisle below the one she was sitting in. "Why did you hide it from us? Rather why didn't you want me? Was I that much of a screw up?"
Mrs. Kishibe sighed and folded her hands in her lap. "I was hoping this day would never come. It's time I told both of you the truth. I did want you Fuusuke I just couldn't manage you at the time. I had you during my third year of college and I never got to finish. I knew I couldn't support you and my parents wouldn't help me. So I did what I thought was best for you. I gave you up for adoption and let Sunshine Orphanage take care of you. I missed you terribly everyday. They sent me pictures on your birthday and on your eighteenth birthday I didn't get anything. I waited and the next year came and still nothing. I knew you had moved out at that time and I would never see you again. I had Taiga ten years after I gave you up and I swore I wouldn't let what happened before happen again. So I picked myself up and I finally finished college and got this job as your new secretary."
Suzuno looked at the ground deep in thought. "What about my father?"
"He wanted nothing to do with you." Mrs. Kishibe gripped her hands trying to strong for her boys.
"Hey it's alright. At least I have you now. Where do you live?" Suzuno held her hand and rubbed it with his thumb.
"With my ex husband." She gave his hand a slight squeeze knowing full well what was gonna happen next.
"Wait hold on. You and dad are divorced? Why didn't you tell me?" Kishibe took a seat in an empty chair across the aisle. "That's something I should know. Why did you hide it?"
"I just wanted you to have a good life with both parents. I give him something and in return we live like a normal happy family. In your eyes at least." Mrs. Kishibe wiped away the tear that managed to escape her eye. "I just wanted you to be happy."
"You didn't have to do that. Just one parent is alright with me. I don't need two to make me happy. In fact finding out I have a brother has made me even happier than I was before. Just seeing you smile I enough for me." Kishibe hugged her tightly and pulled Suzuno to join the hug as well.
"I know one thing that will make today perfect. Hot chocolate with marshmallows. My treat. Then you guys move into my house." Suzuno pulled away from the hug and smile warmly at his new family.
"No we couldn't intrude like that. Let me pay rent at least." Suzuno chuckled and ruffled her hair.
"Alright I'll let you pay rent. Cook dinner and I'll cook breakfast and we have a deal" Mrs. Kishibe pouted at her son but sighed and gave in anyway. "I'm glad you agree mom. Maybe now I can tell you what you missed out on."
"I can't wait."
Maybe the world does seem dark and hopeless at times but it's the small things we do that make it seem bright. Suzuno finally found his missing piece of the puzzle and was determined not to let go.
