( No notes this chapter, I don't want to make the nerves worse. This would be a small tibit on how sage and Arian first met I guess? Anyway enjoy - I'll edit this later if I hate it that much -.)
"Limitless. A world with so many decisions and choices chosen by the inhabitants branch out, creating new timelines and ultimately changing our universe as we know it. " The instructor paused but then continued in his speech. "The many-worlds interpretation-"
The single student listening to this speech, simply sighed. Lying back slightly in the dining room chair. Surely there was more to the world than this, there had to be. Even as he stared down at his book the words blurred, he couldn't help but turn his head slightly to the shut window on the other side of the room. Covered with blinds, he knew he couldn't open them. He could practically hear his wrists screaming at him, reminding him of the last time he considered something like that. Freedom wasn't a right, it was a privilege here.
"Sage! Are you paying attention..?" He looked over to see the angry face of the teacher before him. Sage wasn't exactly surprised. It wouldn't have been easy to find a teacher as clueless as this one, let alone willing to stay silent about the laws they'd obviously committed. He'd read enough books here to know better than that.
"The many-worlds ... interpretation. T-That's what you're... talking about. Right?" Sage stammered, no doubt exhausted from recent all-nighters and the sleeping pills.
" Correct but, please next time pay more attention. It looks like you're slipping off this planet. Stay here on earth." The teacher grumbled as they turned back towards the portable whiteboard.
Sage's head drooped, nodding slightly. Just a few more minutes, then he'd concentrate. Maybe he'd draw. Picking up his pencil was a challenge but he managed it and started to draw a small circle. It wasn't until he heard the creak down the hall did it snatch his attention back to reality. The door swung open, hitting the wall with a thud. Sage practically jumped out of his skin as he watched pure horror walk through the open door.
" Hey teach. You can head out, I've got this one for the rest of the day. Take care."
It was Kalo.
His older brother smiled a little too warmly at the teacher as he hurried out, not daring to make eye contact with the monster. Rolling up his sleeves, Sage could see the dried blood that had no doubt been from what he was doing earlier. He hated seeing platinum. It was the only colour he truly despised.
Kalo sat down in front of Sage, pulling up a chair to sit directly face to face. Kalo wore a bored expression as he tugged at Sage's hair, pulling Sage's head down towards the table as if to woofer about slamming it into the wood table Sage had just been studying at.
" So, what should we do today?" Kalo mumbled, playing with Sage's hair. "You didn't like it yesterday when I let you open the window."
Usually, Sage didn't have the energy to do anything physical to get rid of Kalo. Words never got through to this mentally disturbed boy but he continued to stutter a sling of words in hopes of a brief escape from pain.
"Get ... Away... from me."
Kalo let go almost immediately, holding onto Sage's writing hand with a small smile creeping across his expression like a snake. Squeezing it as if he was trying to purposely stop the blood from making it to Sage's hand. Sage's face turned to one of disgust.
" Don't be like that~ come on. I'm your big brother..." Kalo cooed, blooping Sage's nose. Which only made Sage more uncomfortable. "We've got a while before mum comes home~"
