Georgina hurried through the murky London morning. Why was she hurrying? Her job as a nurse at the local hospital began at 4:00am - it was 4:17 and she had forgotten to set her alarm. If it wasn't for the thousands of cameras that were hidden around the London streets, she would have almost felt unsafe.
She began to pick up the pace, speed walking and nearly jogging as she reached for her phone. The glow from the screen emitted a halo of light around her hand.
Running lake
No matter how many times she tried to correct the sentence, it always came out as 'lake'. She didn't have time to correct it, so it stayed as lake.
Be there in 5
On her shift she normally dealt with the alcohol poisonings, punch-ups and even the odd knifing. But non of that could have prepared her for what she saw that morning.
As she held her phone out for extra light, she tripped over what seemed to be an oddly shaped mound of garbage. Her phone fell from her hand and fell to the pavement, the light going out.
"Oh no...no no no-Oh that's just great." She said as she picked up her phone, her knee sinking into a puddle of what was probably rainwater.
To her delight, her phone turned back on, the halo forming around her hand once again.
As she turned to see what she had tripped over, she realised it wasn't trash at all. She felt the object and found a hand, it was cool but not cold. What she was kneeling in was almost certainly not rainwater...
Seemingly by itself, her hand travelled up the bike leathers to where the neck should be. Only, there wasn't one...
She carried on searching for the neck, running her hand along the laceration until she found it was attached by virtually nothing.
The eyes saw it all.
