Cassie's POV
I sat in my room.
No.
I knew it would happen. Something would go wrong. Somehow I knew it dealt with me.
I was the one who caused his pain.
It's all MY fault.
But could I tell anyone? NO. If I did, I knew everyone would hate me.
Plus, it's hard enough living without your best friend. My brother.
He was the one who helped me through all these hard times; he was the one who picked me up when I fell head first onto this concrete wall we call life.
He was always there for me. And now I'm not there for him.
So it's still MY fault.
I cried into my pillow because there's nothing left to do at this point. No matter how hard I try, things never go right for me.
This family was falling apart and there was nothing I could do about it.
I slowly stood up and wiped away my tears. Running out my room I hear Liam upstairs yelling. Woah wait what?
Now heading up the stairs I bust open the door to Caleb's room.
"Liam?" I cross the room to find Liam holding something- no, someone.
"Don't touch me." He replies.
I could tell he was crying.
"She's gone." He whispered.
"Who?" I ask.
What I see next, I couldn't stand seeing. Caleb.
My mind swirls with questions I know nobody will be able to answer. A loud sob fills the air, and I'm surprised it's coming from me.
Running back down the stairs I find everyone still crowding around Carter. Eleanor sees me and looks up.
"Cassie what's wrong?" She has one of those motherly expressions plastered on her face which makes me want to tell her- but I can't. I can't tell her in front of Carter. Somehow it manages to slip out of my mouth though.
"Caleb! Sh-she's DEAD!"
Carter jumps up.
"What?!"
He gets up and tries to run upstairs but I hold him down.
"Cassie let me go!" He sobs as I wrap my arms around him.
"I'm not letting you see her Carter! You don't WANT to see her like this!! I don't want your last memory of her be- Messed up; dead!"
Carter catches me off guard and pulls my arms free, sprinting upstairs.
"CARTER NO!!"
But it's too late, all I hear is his heart throbbing cry and the sound of him dropping to his knees.
What have I done.
