*Present time Soojung
"Aish how old was I again?" Soojung asked herself. "Memories are such a blur the older you get. It's frustrating at times because you want to remember but after a while it starts fading away. I think that's why I agreed to this random story life interview." Just as her husband walks in the reporter speaks up. "Take your time, we want to get the most possible." Soojung nodded and continued on.*Back to her time as a kid
School was finishing up as summer was just around the corner everyone arose with excitement. Sunwoo came to remind me this morning that there were only 2 weeks of school left and we'd finally be dome with 3rd grade. My birthday was also coming up which I was turning 9 I believe. Sunwoo said he was planning a surprise for me. I was curious considering the last few birthday surprises included: homemade mud cake, macaroni necklace, and of course a home made t-shirt made of a plain white shirt with drawings of flowers and the sun written in marker. Of course I was thankful but I would always laugh a little when getting his presents. I didn't mean to be rude but it was so different from other presents I get. I always put his presents in a box I keep in my closet and look at them once in a while.*Interviewer
"So you kept mud cake in your room? Didn't it start to smell bad?"*Soojung
"I didn't keep the mud cake. I told him we should plant plants with this mud. He said to make the garden in front of my window of my bedroom so I could look at it every morning when I wake up." That was so sweet I thought to myself remembering that time.*Back to her childhood
As Sunwoo and I were heading back home I spotted a bunch of flowers bundled up together. One caught my eye and Sunwoo seemed to notice. Before I said anything he pulled out the flower but the root and dirt came out with the flower. He smiled as he turned around fast to give it to me. I thanked him and detached the root and first part from flower. "I like the color and I saw you liked it too so I went to get it for you!" Sunwoo explained to me. "Thank you chingu!" I replied (chingu is friend in Korean). "I'm happy you're my friend." Sunwoo smiled brightly after saying that.As I got home I told mom I was here and gave her my flower and head to my room to do my homework. "Thank you, I'll be sure to make some meat with rice and kimchi for you!" My mom told me as I was walking to my room. Everything was peaceful and I was so focused on my homework and got done quickly. It was 5 pm when my dad got home. I was laying on my bed reading my book and I went out to greet him. "Hello, what did you do today?" I asked him as always. "Same old thing, same old thing." He said while giving me a hug. "You're birthdays coming up, do you have any ideas for what you want to do?" My mom and dad asked. "Sunwoo said he's going to take me somewhere in the morning for a surprise!" I explained to them telling what Sunwoos plans were. "But afterwards can we go to the Zoo?" I asked hoping we could. I've been wanting to go for a while. "Sure thing, we can go around 2:30 and come back before 6 to have dinner, is that okay?" My mom said. "When are you meeting with Sunwoo?" My dad asked. "Maybe around 10:30 in the morning." I replied. "Thank you!" I told them after discussing my birthday plans. After we eat dinner by my mom, who is the best chef in the world I went on to bed.
The next morning I awoke had breakfast and went out the door and met up with Sunwoo. "Good morning!" He sang to me as I came out. "What happened to you?" I asked him. "I have fully completed my plan for you birthday!" He told me as we passed through the park to get to school. "Oh really? This Sunday should be good!" I explained to tell him. "Yeah I think it'll be even better than last years T-shirt!" He told me. "Well good luck with impressing me." I told him. We walked into class and greeted the teacher as we went to sit down. It was any other regular day except Sunwoo seemed more anxious about my birthday than I was. It made me curious as to what he had planned.
The bell finally rung and we started walking home. As we were walking through the park he told me something. "Let's have a race through the park!" He exclaimed. "Loser has to buy ice cream!" He knew I loved ice cream but from a certain place, Mr.Lee's ice cream truck. He was passing through today, which he doesn't come on this side of our town very much. It's not as busy as the other side because more kids live over there. It's was pretty good size of people here but his ice cream is also more popular on the other side. "Okay!" I said after realizing the ice cream truck was here. "Okay on the count of 3 we start, okay?" He explained to me. "1...2...3!" We started running as fast as we could but Sunwoo was the fastest runner I knew. He knew that too and with knowing that he had his advantages. He used them against me sometimes which I caught on and that how unfair that was. This time I wasn't thinking about that. All I thought about was the ice cream! Sunwoo started slowing down a bit as we got closer after seeing me behind. After I saw that I started to run faster. Sunwoo yelled something but I didn't hear. So I just ran faster. I finally heard what he said but it was too late.
I fell into the pond, missing the bridge. It wasn't deep but I was struggling. Sunwoo came to help me out. He said I scratched myself on the leg and said that I shouldn't walk. "Aigoo...what should I do?" I said. "Get on my back I carry you home." Sunwoo told me. I did knowing he was strong enough and he would just keep arguing until I got on. He sat me down on the bench and went to get ice cream. He brought back my favorite, mint ice cream and he got his classic rocky road. We sat there for a while and just talked. I like him, I really like him. He's the best friend everyone wish they had and I got him. "Thank you." I told Sunwoo in the middle of his sentence. "Thank you for being my friend." He looked down and smiled and said "Thank you for being you." He said with a smile looking up at me.
