I waited for the shrill shriek of the final bell staring at the clock in anticipation.

Tick-tock

Mr. McDonald blabbed on about the laws of physics, but by the looks on every student's face, no one listened. Thankfully for us, the bell blared through the school speakers causing us all to shoot out of our seats and dart through the door.

I did as I usually do slinging my bag over my shoulder and walking out the door clutching my phone in my hand to get to my truck. Hallways were chaos at the end of the day. Everyone ran to their friends gossiping or saying hi. Girlfriends and boyfriends would walk each other to their cars, just that basic stuff.

A girl walked by with a few other girls behind her smiling at everyone and saying hello to nearly the whole school.

"Her? That's Hazel Davis. Kindest and most popular person on the planet. Known better by people all over the world than the Shot Heard Around the World. And I'm betting on her to be the first of any of us to become a saint. I think I mentioned her before, right?"

I turned to my right, and of course, Steph was over my shoulder also staring Hazel down. She always seemed to show up at the perfect time for a lesson.

"So do we like her?"

"Eh, she's all right. Nice girl." Steph shrugged without giving anything more.

"So not a bitch?" I clarified.

"Not a Regina George, no."

I nodded in acceptance of that response.

"And she's dating that jackass?" I asked in confusion not seeing how a girl that seemed to have such good judgement could choose such a terrible guy.

"She is indeed. Reid Belmont and Hazel Davis, save the date for their wedding." Steph joked mockingly with a chuckle and held her hands up like guns on both side of her head. "Gotta run. I'll see you tomorrow Frankie." She left without a smile but gave me a wave as she began to walk out the doorway crowded by students.

I stood in that spot for a moment more inspecting Hazel's kind demeanor and angelic actions. She seemed like the perfect human being.

I walked away and crossed the street in front of the school busses whose drivers waved me on to pass by before halting to a quick stop seeing a shiny black BMW speed to a stop right in my line of walking. Stunned, my phone dropped from my hands to the pavement making a loud thud, and I prayed to God that my iPhone was all right.

"What the fuck!" I screamed in shock, and it wasn't until after that I realized I had scream incredibly loud for all teacher and students around to hear. Thankfully, for me, they were all too distracted to notice.

The windows on this expensive looking car were tinted so I was unable to see the driver, but I wanted to cuss him or her out for nearly running me over. I banged on the window, making sure to smug the clean looking glass in the process. Then, the window to the passenger seat rolled down, and in the driver's seat was Reid Belmont. Damn, it's always Reid Belmont.

"Fuck you." I rolled my eyes and flipped him my middle finger.

"Fuck you. Now get in." He said with more class than the words 'fuck you' should ever have.

"No, why in earth would I do that."

"Because you said you would."

"I never said that."
