At first I didn't realize what had happened. I was staying in first class and I didn't feel a thing. Later I found out that down in third class the impact caused some people to fall out of their beds. I didn't realize that this would be the last night I would see my family. We only noticed a problem when we heard people running down the hall around midnight. My mother opened the door and saw a group of people with life jackets on running down the long first class corridor. We really didn't think much of it at the time. About two hours later it was too late for us. That was when the tilt of the ship was extreme. The noises of hundreds of tables and chairs sliding resounded throughout the corridors of the ship. By this time all the lifeboats were gone and there was no hope for us. We went up on deck to attempt to save ourselves but to no avail. And as the deck of the ship inched closer to the water line we hoped we would be okay.
