Another Sad One

The lies had gone on long enough. Phil was done with it. He would wake up to find Dan gone, and then fall asleep on the couch waiting for him to come back home. When Phil did see his "best friend", he was pale and thin. The hallows of his eyes had grown deeper, and he was pretty sure he could see Dans ribs.

The only time they interacted with each other was to glare, or ask the other to pass the tv remote. They stopped watching anime together (Dan was hardly home anyways), and Dan hadn't made a video in months.

Phil took over the rent and utilities, while still uploading videos regularly. He wouldn't address his roommate in his videos, and Dan didn't make anymore surprise visits.

Phil was pretty sure it was drugs. He got a call one day from Dans phone after he had been missing for about 3 days. Phil had never answered anything quicker than in that moment. It was a "mate" of Dans, saying that they needed him out of their flat. That wasn't a fun drive back home. For either of them.

Phil had to put his foot down. He had his own problems, and Dan just kept pushing and pushing him away every time he tried to help.

When he told Dan he was leaving, Dan didn't even react. He just continued to stare blankly at the wall; like Phil had found him.

"I'll be back to get the rest of my stuff" Phil said, his head down and his voice still hoarse from sobbing the night before.

And then he left.
