Chapter 7

As I was looking at my school robes, noticing that it was a skirt I scrunched up my nose and put the uniform away deciding to keep my jeans and tee on. All of a sudden the train came to a halt. I stepped out of the bathroom seeing all the kids run out of the train when suddenly an arm grabbed mine and started pulling me. I looked to see who it was, expecting one of the boys, and to my surprise it was Lily.

"Um hello" I spoke questionably as Lily dragged me around. She just ignored me and drug me out to the carriages to which had horses on them. But not regular horses. These ones resembled skeletons. Shivering at the sight of them. I ignored them and stepped into the carriage. Lily was sitting there grinning with no Severus around.

"Hi?" I spoke again. "So what house do you want to be in?" She questioned. I looked at her confused. "What?" I asked. "You spent 2 months with those insufferable boys and they didn't even tell you about the houses" she grumbled. "No I'm afraid not" I admitted. She than went on rambling about the 4 houses. She told me about Gryffindor for the brave, Ravenclaw for the Intelligent, Hufflepuff for the kind, and Slytherin for the cunning.

"Which are you in?" I asked her. "I'm I am in Gryffindor, and Sev is in Slytherin" she told me I nodded. "And "The Marauders"" I quoted. "Gryffindor" she scowled. The carriages stopped and I jumped off along with Lily. "I think you just wait for the first years by the door" Lily told me. I nodded at her and she took off to the great hall as she told me on the way up, well I headed for the giant doors. I saw the boats come up and a giant man with a long black beard came out of the boat with all the first years.

The giant man noticed me standing at the door. "Ah, must 'e the new student" the giant man asked. I nodded and smiled politely. "Skylar" I held out my hand. "Rubeus Hagrid, 'ou can call me Hagrid though" he winked. I smiled at him brightly, liking the giant man already. A woman with a strict face came out and gave a long speech that I didn't listen to and then led us into the great hall.

I knew I was rather going first or last, since I was older. All of my peers stared noticing I wasn't a first year and that I wasn't in proper uniform. I looked up to the head table to see Albus smiling at me and he winked. The lady with the strict face, McDonald or something like that than called out "Skylar". All the kids started whispering. Not noticing I walked up to the stool and placed the hat on my head, not surprised as Lily also told me about the hat.

'Interesting... Very interesting' a voice spoke in my head. I became alarmed but making it unnoticeable for others. 'Well hello there' I thought. The hat chuckled. 'Interesting mind you have dear' he told me 'you've been through a lot, takes a lot of bravery for that much'. Rolling my eyes 'so Gryffindor it is than' I asked it. The hat chuckled again and shouted "GRYFFINDOR" the whole table shot up cheering. I walked to the table and found Lily and sat by her.

"Nice to have ya here" Lily grinned. The sorting went on with first years going around to each table. Each one showing its house spirit. Then Albus stood up and gave this long speech about to stay away from the "forbidden forest" and all that stuff. Than food started appearing around the table. There was everything. From mashed potatoes, to steak, to chicken fingers. Taking some mashed potatoes and chicken fingers and eating them. Then the 4 boys showed up. "Congratulations Skylar" spoke James. "Yeah knew you would be in Gryffindor" Sirius said. "You did not! You said she was going to be in Ravenclaw" James scoffed at him. Peter joined in and Remus watched his friends and rolled his eyes.

"How was your summer Lily" Remus asked. I rolled my eyes at his sudden politeness. "Very well how was yours" she responded. He grinned "Also very well" he winked at me, turning back to his friends to try and stop the argument I whispered to Lily "let's get away while we can". She laughed softly and nodded. With that we snuck out of the great hall and to the Gryffindor common rooms.

Well climbing the stairs I thought 'What was with all the winking today'.
