One month later

May

"Bag, shoes, keys...." I mumble going over my check list for school as it is the first day. Today is the day I will walk into Key Stone High and earn my straight A's easily also earning my way to the top of honor roll, not forgetting Mrs. Keyan, the school counselor talking to me about NYU.

With an excited sigh I grab the keys to my fathers car, slipping on my worn converse and I'm out the door ready to out smart some teachers.

When I get to the school kids are swarming around it waiting for the doors to open, fooling around with each other playing some sort of game that calls for them to act like wild animals.

The girls are watching all of the boys act like wild animals twirling there hair and giggling hoping one might stop and talk to them or possibly exchange emails or whatnot.

When I get out of the car I pull my book bag all the way on using both straps unlike most of the key stone youth population.

My shoes slap against the pavement of the parking lot as I walk up to the school.

"Heyyyyy it's dork girl" a male figure speaks to me sitting on the big rocks that appear outside of our school.

"Actually I would prefer you to use May, if you will" I speak my face completely straight and confused at the same time.

"You kinda remind me of a robot" one of them says in a 'duh' tone as the others bust out into a fit of laughter.

"And might I ask why?" Staying calm I Turn my body fully towards them.

"You just talk like one and you sit like you have a stick up your ass" he blushes looking at the ground.

"Well actually I sit normally if you ask me I just think it would not be pleasant to have scoliosis" before turning back to walk towards the school I put my nose up high to let them know they had no effect on me.

When I walked into the school I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply as I have a love for the smell of the inside of schools. They smell like printer paper, and hard work, my signature scent.

"You don't wanna be late for school!" My mom scolds pointing towards the door as I slump down the stairs with my backpack slung on one shoulder.

"Yes yes okay okay" I say walking out the door and getting into the car reluctantly.

When we got to the school I turned around in my seat and looked at Christi who was staring nervously out the window.

"hey" I smiled catching her attention, when her eyes met mine she gave me a weak smile so I held out my fist, she laughed and we bumped out fists like old times before I stepped out of the car and onto the pavement of my new school.

Jamie's mother pulled off quickly behind her leaving the girl standing in front of a school completely foreign to her.

While Jamie walked up the sidewalk of Key Stone, May made her way to the library to look for more books.

"Hey your new what's up!" A boy yelled at Jamie from sitting upon a rock that had words carved to say key stone high.
