Jamie

"What took so long?" My moms curious eyes bore into mine as I walk back to the car with snacks.

"RAH!" my 7 year old sister yells as she grabs the bag of potato chips from my full arms.

"Oh nothing I was looking around a bit" I respond over the noise of Christi opening her chips rather violently.

She gives me a quick nod before her eyes light up with realization "Jamie Look! Oh my. This town is so beautiful and our house is just around here.." Trailing off she focus on our surroundings looking for a street sign.

"Dad!" I shout as we pass a store with dope ass long boards in the window.

Looking around this town I see the beauty, there are street lights at every corner with children and adults walking hand in hand through the shop windows that are everywhere.

You can tell this town is small easily by looking at how this one street is simply stores and small restaurants and how everyone is smiling and waving at each other.

This is a big change from Seattle, there aren't screaming women in pant suits or pencil skirts, or men in suits gripping suit cases.

It's so peaceful here, like everyone is okay and themselves all around in there own environment without people judging or screaming.

There's less tension and more happiness here, just looking around my body relaxes from its tension I didn't know I held all of these years.

I can taste the freedom already.

"What do you think?" I'm snapped from my thoughts by the house in front of me.

It's a beige two story house with a deck In the front of it, big beautiful flowers line the house neatly making the yard look more full.

"It's..." I trail off looking at my mom who's eyes are dripping with hope.

"Home" I say smiling at her when she giggles practically leaping out of the car.

May

"What do you want for dinner May?" My fathers voice rings through our small two bedroom house, sifting through the fridge desperate to find something despite how empty it is.

"Chicken?" Hoping we have some, I hear him look around the fridge before I hear the door close and then some silence.

"I'm going to the store" he shouts from the end of the hallway when I hear him grab his keys and close the door behind him I sigh falling back onto my bed to stare at the white ceiling.

Before focusing back onto the email I am sending to to the editor of The Key, the towns newspaper I grip my golden brown hair thinking.

This email that I'm sending is not just any email you would send, it's as important as when I received an email from him 2 months ago exactly talking to me about how I peeked his interest and he heard about me from a teacher.

He wants me to write a article on happiness and love and the truth of it, the secret, he has given me 6 months to prepare this because I'm just a journalist in training and it will cover the front page of the newpaper.

I have been struggling with it for quite a while, stressing, over thinking about how everyone in Key Stone will read my article and at the bottom it will say my name so people will know I wrote it.
