I nervously walked across the big, blue stage. The judges sat in front of me and the audience sat behind them. The large "X" was easily recognizable, it was stuck right in the center of the judges desk for everyone to see. I held the microphone in my hand as I approached the designated area for contestants to stand. This was it, I was auditioning for The X-Factor.
"Hi, what's your name?" The middle aged man, Simon asked me.
"My name's Zayn." I just barely spoke loud enough for him to hear me.
"Zayn? What are you going to sing?" Simon questioned me.
"I'm going to sing Mario, uh, Let Me Love You."
"Okay," He smiled at me.
The crowd grew silent as I brought the microphone up to my mouth. Anticipation grew inside of me, I took a breath just as I sang the first word."
"You're the type of woman, deserves good things. Fistful of diamonds, hand full of rings. Baby you're a star. I just want to show you, you are, you should let me love you. Let me-" I sang, Simon cut me off as I started the chorus. He rose his hand and the music stopped.
"Louis yes or no?" Simon moved right ahead to the voting process, which I was not prepared for.
"Hmm, yeah!" Louis said, full of excitement.
"Thank you," I whispered, the crowd overpowering my voice.
"Nicole?" Simon looked to her.
"Yes," She said it as if she didn't even need to, nodding her head as she said the word.
"Thank you," I sincerely answered, the crowd cheered even louder.
"Then I'm gonna say yes," Simon gazed at me, setting his papers back down on the desk.
"Thank you," I smiled at each of the judges before walking off the stage to join my family.
Many arms wrapped around my body as soon as I stepped off the final stair. Cheers erupted from everyone backstage. My mum wrapped her arms around her neck and she kissed my cheek. My sisters hugged me around my waist as my father proudly placed his hand on my shoulder. I grinned at all of them, I couldn't believe I had made it into the competition.
