Chapter 1 : Disaster
MARA'S P.O.V
"I'm sorry Mara, there's nothing we can do." The doctor said. Those words entered my mind in a slow motion effect and I couldn't believe it at all, my grandmother died.
"There is something we can do, always." I whispered. She was my only family. What could I possibly do without her? She promised me she wouldn't leave me like my parents did. What happened? It's all my fault. If we didn't have that fight...She shouldn't have that Heart Attack and she would have been still here, with me.
The nurse directed me to where I should stay until they covered her body. I stayed in one place not knowing what to do. My phone rang, I fixed myself and answered it. " Hi Mara, This is Erica. I know what happened, I'll be there. Don't worry, I'm always here." Erica said. "Yeah, I'll be fine. Ok, I'll wait for you and uhh, Erica..Thank you." I replied.
Erica was there waiting in the lobby. I'm glad she's here, being my bestfriend means alot and I couldn't lose her because now, she's my only friend, and my only family. I ran towards her, crying like a baby and she hugged me tight and I could feel the comfort and the understanding. I'm really grateful and thankful she was here, after the disaster I made.
"I fought with her. She wanted me to go find my parents and I didn't want that. I was happy being with her, I was too stubborn and ," I cried finding more words to say, " I told her that maybe she was too tired to take care of me and that she didn't love me anymore." I told Erica. "It was my fault." Erica patted my back and comforted me, hugging me like her sister.
"It wasn't your fault. It's nobody's fault, so stop crying already. The doctor said she had a heart attack and it could have occured to her many times that she should let you go, but she just faught with it to be able to stay with you. Didn't you ever think of that?" Erica said. "She loves you and maybe she felt that now is the time to find your parents and find your dreams that's why she told you that. Find your way Mara, It's fine." Erica says without breaking her hug.
After a week, the funeral was done. I got all my things and some of my Grandmother's valuable possesions and I moved in with Erica's apartment which was big and enough for the two of us. I felt at home. My Gradma sure worked hard for the savings she had for me and I cried, I was feeling ashamed and very thankful that she really thinks about me. I came to a realization that everything comes for a reason and this one is for me to really find out that she loves me more than I could ever Imagine.
The night came and I fell towards my bed and looked through the window, there I could see the moon and I felt warm. Erica was working with her project and I didn't bother her anymore so there, through that window I was humming the song my Grandma always sang to me. " Lights out Mara, you have to go somewhere tomorrow." Erca said.
That night I had a dream. My Grandmother was there, she was waving and smiling to me. I ran towards her but I couldn't come near. I stopped. I wasn't moving at all, I knew this was a dream and I didn't want to wake up.
