Chapter 4: Spotlight

Erica's P.O.V

   "Where is Mara?" I say while biting my lips. She will come, I know. My phone rings. It was Mara.

"Hello? Where are you?" I asked. "Hi Erica! I'm really sorry I got caught up and the bus left already. I'm coming, although I would be a little late." She says and suddenly I hear someone laugh. "Who was that?Is there someone with you" I asked. "Shut up, just drive please. Eyes on the road. " She says and I know she wasn't talking to me at all.

  "Excuse me, who are you with?" I ask again. "Uhhm, yeah. There is someone. It's a long story so, I'll explain later. I promise." She says assuring me. "all right. Just come quick please. "I said as she hangs up. I'm glad she would come.

Kevin's P.O.V

  I looked up at Mara talking to someone on the phone and I couldn't help but smile and laugh to all her excuses. I drove fast so we could catch up and not be late. I haven't told her that I was also going to the audition and why would I? We just met so let's keep things at pace.

"We're here." I said. "Thank you very much Kevin." She says smiling beautifully. The way she said my name was the reason why I was smiling like an idiot. " No problem" I say while scratching my head. She went down the car and waved goodbye. I was glad she was nice to me this day , remembering the first day we bumped to each other it was a total mess and I just laugh hard when I do remember it.

  I parked my car and I went inside already. I sat down to a chair and waited until my name was called. Honestly I felt a little nervous and it only grew more when I saw Mara looking at me. Infront of me.

Mara's P.O.V

  I couldn't believe my eyes. It was Kevin, sitting there and waiting. "Hey!" I said. He looks more than shocked as I am. He tenses then relaxes. "Hey, missed me? " He teases. There it goes again. This side of him is the one that makes me uncomfortable because I don't know what or how to respond. " Very funny, kevin." I snapped. He chuckles " Why are you here?" I ask him. "Same goes for you, why are you here?" He counters.

  "I'm auditioning, isn't that obvious? " I say teasing him." I'm auditioning too, isn't that obvious?" He says copying how I sound which is not working, because he doesn't sound  anything like me! He laughs and I smile. Suddenly his name got called. "Good luck to you then! " I said beaming. He smiles then nods and then leaves.

  I wonder what he would do? play an instrument? Sing? Dance? Curiousity overwhelmed me and I couldn't think straight because of those questions! Those many questions about him. I tried to shove away any thoughts and concentrated on my own.

  I waited until my name is to be called. To be honest, I'm feeling nervous and more when I found out that Kevin is also here. What is happening?

Kevin's P.O.V

   I finished performing and they liked it. I sat back to the seat to the people who were done and accepted to the audition. I felt a sigh of relief. Just then I hear a familiar voice. "What would you do for us to make us listen to you and accept you to this audition?" One of the judges asks. There was  silence. "I'd sing the song in the way that you would find different , that way you would be able to hear the message more than the music itself." A girl says. I decided to look and there she was. Mara standing. "In what ways would you think you could sing that we could hear your message?" One of the judges asks again.

" In a way that it's from my heart." She finally says. Now my eyes are upon her . They dim the lights and put her on the spot. The background music started and as she sang , it was amazing. It was beautiful and I didn't want her to stop. Her voice was so angelic yet perfectly natural to her. I saw her eyes on me and my heartbeat seems to skip. What is this? Why do I feel this way.

Mara's P.O.V

  As I sang, I saw a familiar eyes looking at me an I felt my eyes locked upon his. My heatbeat skips. What am I feeling? Am I so nervous? No, it doesn't seem like. My eyes rest upon his until my song was finished. The judges loved the performance and I'm in! I saw Erica running towards me and gives me a hug and then whispers to my ears," You were amazing in the spotlight." She winks at me. I saw Kevin smiling and winks at me as he leaves. I smiled.
