He stood in once war-torn land
He saw him
His father
Covered in red, alongside many more.
He could hear mothers wailing, sisters crying, fathers shocked, and children traumatized.
And he was one of the traumatized children.
And why shouldn't he? For he had now become a father less child.
He walked to his father. The colonel had a firm look on his face, and he was still clutching his gun.
His uniform was all read. The invaders shot at him merciless. For they knew, this man was their biggest threat.
The colonel had one many wars for his motherland. The 1971 war, the Ladakh invasion. He was a part of it all. And he was on the victorious side.
And again, he was on the victorious side. But this time, his heart was not beating.
The colonel's son. He saw his hero, his father, lying on the land he gave away his life for.
He knew he should have been proud. He knew his father would not want him wailing. But what could he do? He was a small child. His emotions are greater than his father's patriotism.
And so, he wailed. He wailed alongside his father. He wailed furiously.
Then he remembered what his father used to say and he stopped wailing. He ran. He ran straight towards the commander who brought him here.
"Son, I may go away from this world. But I should not go away from your heart. For I shall always look upon you, no matter what"
