Autobiography by Petagay McKenzie growing up without a father in the early stages of life, when he came around i often tried fixing the relationship that was broken I often felt it was a fault of mine but now I couldn't careless at least I tried.
My stepdad played such a role in my life, he made sure I didn't need anything. My stepdad and my mother took care of almost everything financially and otherwise. My stepdad paid my school fee. It was August again and it was a new school term. He had his own kids to take care of so they both decided to let my dad pay for once. Mom called him and he agreed. I went up there and he was at work so I waited for him. He came looking upset and told me he would drop me home. While heading home he took out a stock of thousand dollars. He counted out 21,000 dollars and gave me and then he said "Wait give me back a thousand" so I did he told me that he took back a thousand because I didn't have his name. This continued for a while. He got worst and worst he forgot my birthday year after year. It was almost ridiculous. He didn't care, he would promise me things and don't show up. I would ask him for money to go to school and he didn't show up. I missed school very regular. So the days when mommy had money I would go. He wasn't a father he was a visitor in my life. He never loved me but still I tried mending a relationship that I didn't break. I would text him on WhatsApp there were times when he would answer and times when he didn't even when he was online. I did everything in my power to make him recognize me but it didn't work. His pride and joy got older and he loved him more. The only thing shamar talked about was party, drinks and the latest clothes.
