SoMa~ Falling Into Insanity

Chapter 1~ Running For My Life

Maka was falling. She was falling deep into a red world of confusion and loneliness. A world without pain or emotions.

This was insanity.

It all started with her father, Spirit. She had come home that evening to find her father kissing the face off some stupid woman. She just ran. All she could think of was hate.... Pain... She didn't want any of it. She just didn't. So she kept running away.

By the time she stopped she was half way across Death City. She sat inside an alleyway and cried. She thought of what her dad was probably doing with.. With that woman. He didn't even see her....

Night fell shortly afterwards but Maka wouldn't move.

"Catch me if you can, Evans!" Came a smug voice. Maka slowly raised her head and turned her attention to where the voice came from.

A woman dressed in a mysterious black dress covered in white snake patterns stood in front of her. She was looking at the end of the alleyway. Maka turned to where she was looking and saw the outline of a person holding a gun. Maka's eyes widened and then softened. 'Maybe it would be better if I was dead. Maybe I could escape all this pressure.... Fear.' She thought carefully.

After making her decision she stood up, grabbing the attention of the woman and the mysterious figure. The lady smirked.

"Well hello little Girly, lost your way have you?" Then her smile faded. "Crona, I have more food for you."

A crazed smile appeared on Maka's face. "Kill me. I dont mind."

Before the woman could react a gun fired at her making her flinch. She growled at Maka before running away into the shadows. "This isn't over Evans!"

The Viridian eyed girl sat down and closed her eyes. She was beginning to drift off gently until she heard the sound of heavy footsteps approaching her. 'Of course. The figure.'

She raised her head slowly. There stood a man with albino hair and devil red eyes. He smirked. "Well well well Missy. Seems like YOU were in the wrong place at the wrong time."

"....."

"Well if I let you go you might tell the authorities about what you saw tonight."

"... Shoot me."

"What? You actually want me to?"

"Yes... DO IT! Or are you afraid to kill a girl?"

"You don't know who you're talking to." He raised the gun and Maka slowly stood up, preparing for the sudden pang of pain before it would be all over. All of her pain, all of her worries... All of her fears.

Nothing happened, no gunfire and no last cry of pain. Maka became angry. "JUST SHOOT ME GOD DAMN IT!" She screamed at the man.

He lowered his gun slowly, strode over to her and yanked her by her wrist, dragging her along with him.

"Where are you taking me!" She shrieked. He turned to her slowly, crimson eyes practically glowing in the light of the moon.

"Home." He replied and continued to drag her forcefully along the roads of Death City. The air was cold but Maka hid all emotions from the man. She could be strong. Or at least pretend to be.

Before Maka knew it they had stopped outside of a large black house. The man dug in his leather coat pocket searching for something. Seconds later he pulled out his house keys and unlocked the door to the strange house. "Come in"

Maka reluctantly followed the man into his house and watched him lock the door. The atmosphere was pretty serious until the man grinned at her. "Sorry I was so serious back there, can't let my guard down. I'm Soul. Soul Eater!" He held out his hand to her and smirked.

Maka looked at his hand for a while. "Uhhh you shake it, man." Soul said lazily. She gave him a 'no-sh*t-Sherlock' look before carefully shaking his hand.

"What's your name then?"

"..... Maka. Just Maka." Maka said, she felt to ashamed to say her last night. Her father had destroyed that pride.

"Oh ok. Anyway, let me show you around. I'm afraid I can't let you go coz you might tell people. Not cool." Soul explained. I nodded and he led me down a dark corridor. The walls were pitch black and the carpet was blood red like Soul's eyes. They reached a door at the end of the corridor and Soul opened it and gestured for her to enter.

The room was posh and dark like the rest of the house but this room was comforting. There was a fireplace in the corner so Maka guessed that this house was pretty old. She dared not ask Soul incase it was personal and it offended him. Despite their greeting he had been the kindest person to her since her mother divorced her father. Her father made promises, but from the moment he made those promises Maka knew that he was lying. He was a lie. Mom was too good for him. He didn't deserve her, he didn't deserve anyone.

Soul left the room for a moment and returned with a t-shirt, jumper and sweat pants. "Here." He tossed them to her. "You can wear these while we wash your clothes."

Maka looked down at her clothes and realised that they weren't in the best conditions. They were muddy and wet from running in the rain and sitting in the alleyway.

She excepted the clothes and Soul left for her to change. When she was done she pulled her hair out from her pigtails, allowing her long ash blonde hair to flow freely down her shoulders. Climbing into bed she thought of what might happen tomorrow, and was this Soul kid going to be nice? Or was he just like all those... MEN out in the world. Her father had only taught her one thing in life, you can never trust men.
