I heave; my lungs ache, my legs burn, and my thoughts are sporadic. I shut my door, lock it and slide to the floor. Hot tears stream down my reddened face as I try to take in what happened. My hands shake, I reach for the X-acto knife that I keep on my shelf, but my hand never reaches it. My mother knocks on the door, I don't answer and so she breaks the lock. My dark violet door swings open swiftly, hitting me in the process.
"Don't you fucking leave when I'm talking to you! See I knew you didn't care about me, you bitch."
"But, momm-"
"Don't 'But, momma' me I'm fucking sick of your ass, Taesia."
She leaves the room, slamming the door behind her. I reach for the small blade once more; yet again my hand doesn't make it to the knife.
This time I passed out.
I awoke to someone kicking me harshly in the ribcage.
"Wake up." My mother, "It's time for school." With that she left and I got ready.
"Bye, mom; love you."
"Bye, love you too."
I run to the bus stop even though I had 30 minutes before the bus was scheduled to arrive. I breathe once I get there and watch as the heat from my breath billows into the air and dissipates into a fog. My uncovered arms turn slightly pale and I close my eyes letting the frigid air seep into my body.
"You're here early again?"
"Yeah, why are you here so early Aria?"
"I'm always here early. You beat me here today though."
I smile at my friend, and she looks at me, her long brown hair flowing gently in the wind and her blue-green eyes sparkling with curiosity.
"You're smiling, you almost never smile."
"Well you're here with me. You're my happiness."
"Taesia, I'm flattered that you think of me so highly."
"No problem!"
She looks down the street, briefly and sighs.
"Here comes the bus."
We hop on the bus and sit next to each other. Once at school I hear a familiar voice. I voice that I absolutely despise.
"Hey, dumbass; you actually showed up? I told you what would happen if you came back."
My eyes changed from a warm brown color to black; pure black.
"I don't care, Kira. Try anything and it will be your attempt at anything." The words fell from mouth like water, and they were venomous.
"Is that a threat, Taesia?"
"Don't call me Taesia; I am NOT Taesia!"
"Then who the fuck is you?"
"That information is not necessary. Also, it wasn't a threat, it was a PROMISE."
"Bitch, please; as if you could hurt me."
The bell rings, and I look on in shock. I'm late. Kira scoffs.
"See you later, cunt"
I glare at her and walk to the office to get a note to class. Afterwards, I go to my first of 7 classes of the day, gym. The other one, Kiba, is in there. Kiba is Kira's twin brother. As I walk into class he looks at me smirking. He kisses a girl with long, unkempt, fake, charcoal black hair, wearing a crap ton of makeup and a very revealing outfit. The girl, whose name I don't even care to remember, walks away with a huge grin on her face.
Kiba walks over to me and decides to make small talk. I know better than to trust him, so I start to walk off. I don't get very far, however, as he grabs me by my hair and begins to drag me across the floor. The other kids in the class laugh. I have my X-acto knife hidden in my hoodie pocket, but I don't grab it until he lets go of me. He steps back, growling like a dog, and snatches the knife away from me throwing near the door.
At that moment Mr. Kiser, the resident substitute, walks in seeing the craft tool and assumes nothing; just picks it up and places it in his bag. Kiba walks away and talks to the sub, telling him that he is the "Most well behaved student in the class" among other false statements. Not once is the blade, nor the altercation from before, brought up.
The rest of the day goes fairly smoothly. I have been able to avoid the twins and somehow the rest of the tormentors in my school. Though it has been kind of hard. I have seen them several times in the hallways, but I slipped past undetected.
I make my way to the lunchroom, fixing my backpack as I walk down the marble staircase, I have fourth lunch so I go straight to my next class afterward which explains the backpack, I meet up with Aria and her other friends: Alex (short for Alexandria), Jessica, Kenneth, and Victoria (her real name is Victoriella but we just call her Victoria).
"What's the worst thing you've done Taesia?" Suddenly the spotlight was on me, as Kenneth directed the question in my direction.
"I can't say the worst thing I've done," I pause blushing lightly from embarrassment, "But I'll tell you something I've done."
"Okay."
"I once slammed a kids head onto concrete because he wouldn't leave me alone."
Everyone, excluding Aria, looked at me, shocked.
"If you think that's weird, watch this!" Aria said and tells me to put my hands together, fingers crossing over one another. She proceeds to squeeze my fingers so the joints press down on each other. I burst out laughing. Kenneth looks at me as if he were convicting me of a crime.
"You're insane."
"No, I'm not."
"Child, yes you are."
"I swear I'm not insane!"
"That's something an insane person would say."
I make a sound showing that I am agitated. Thebell rings, signaling for us to leave so I gather my things to head to my nextclass, Psychology.
