Chapter 7

7 1 1

It was fine.

Everything.

Was.

Fine.

But then she had to show up.

How did she even get here? She doesn't drive.

She can't  drive because of her blackouts so how did she get here?

Standing in Aria's driveway was my mother. My. Fucking . Mother.

Aria looked at me with a glint in her eye. I know that look.

"Down and pull."

I nod and slide down in the back of her car. I notice a secret panel right beneath the seat I was sitting in and pull it out over me laying down on the floor of the car.

Aria hops out of the car after putting it into park. "Hey, Ms. Floresse! How's Taesia doing?"

"Hey, babygirl! Actually, that's what I came here to ask about. Have you happened to see Taesia? She left last night and didn't tell me where she went. I'm worried sick."

"Oh? I didn't know she got out of the hospital."

There was a slight pause, she didn't pick up the phone so she didn't know I was in the hospital.

"Oh, yeah. She got out about a week ago. Doctors said she would be fine."

"Even though she got shot??"

"Ye-, " she clears her throat, "Yeah! They said the bullet missed all vital organs. She was in rehab for about a week and then got discharged."

"Oh! That's good to hear."

"I just didn't want to let her to go to school and risk that maniac to try killing her again."

"They arrested him and his sister though."

"Still! I don't trust that place. Too many people pick on my daughter. Anyone could be waiting to try something."

"O-Okay."

"But you haven't seen her?"

"No, ma'am."

A dramatic sigh.

"If you want I can drive you to the police station or something."

Aria, what the hell are you doing?!

"If it isn't any trouble could you drive me home?"

"Of course."

I hear two doors open and shut. I feel the panel above me vibrate slightly.

Oh hell no. She'll feel me under here.

"Why is the floor so high back here?"

"I'm not exactly sure. That's how this car was made."

I feel the panel vibrate again but it doesn't collapse.

"Well at least it's sturdy."

"Yeah! It helps for when I'm babysitting, the little kids can touch the floor instead of swinging their feet and kicking my seat!"

Another sigh.

"Are you alright?"

"Yeah, just wondering where my daughter is."

"I didn't expect you to actually be this upset by it, Ms. F."

"Why wouldn't I be?"

"I mean you seem to not be affected by anything. You're so strong."

"... That's all a mask, babydoll. I really do fear for her."

There's silence in the car from then on.

"Here you are!"

"Thank you, Aria."

"Of course. Anytime."

I hear the door open and close.

After what feels like an eternity and a half, she begins to drive off.

I stay hidden in the panel until we get back to her place.

"Alright. I'm postitive we're safe now."

She releases the latch that held the panel in place and we push it out of the way.

"I told my parent's about your situation when they asked about the mark on your neck, from that time your mom choked you. So we had this installed in my car just in case you were in need of a getaway. They didn't know we were already planning one."

That... was a little too perfect.

She unlocks the door and we step inside.

I'm safe... for now at least...

Sorry for being inconsistent with updates, as well. Senior year and so far college has been draining me of my creative spark. Hahaha!
