When I wake up, the first thing I think of is last night. It was such a rush, but that was a little to close to getting caught. When I sit up, I slowly become aware of my surroundings. I hear a lot of noise in the living room and feet clomping up and down the stairs.
What the hell's happening? Then my dad bursts through my door. Good thing I put the money up last night. "Kat! Wake up! Hur- oh." He stops yelling when he notices I'm awake.
"What's going on?" My dad looks straight at me. "As you know, it's hard to find a preacher during summer. The one we barely booked said something came up so we have to move up the wedding by a day. Are you packed?"
Wow, wasn't expecting this. "Yeah, almost. What time do we leave?"
"1:30" I check my phone and it's 12.
"Ok, go pack dad." He nods and runs out of my room.My suitcase is packed with stuff I won't need and a dress I would have supposedly worn for the wedding. The wrapped money is under my bed still and so are the books, along with my makeup bag filled with snacks. I roll out of bed and close the door. I pull the stuff out and grab my backpack. I put my clothes in first. Then the makeup bag next to a non-see through bag of the wrapped money.
Then, putting my bag to the side, I go to my body mirror and start doing my makeup. I look at myself for a second, taking in my reflection after I finish. I have long, stright dark brown hair that goes to my mid back with hazel eyes; a mix of green and a bit of blue.
I stand up and go to my closet to pick out my outfit. After some fast shuffling, I end up with some dark blue capris and a non-sleeved,cream colored loose top with some patterns going down the back.
Bushing my hair, I heard the girls start to fight about who gets what seat in the car. One side has a thingy that you can charge your phone with. Whatever, I have 5 portable chargers.
I smirk at the thought of thinking ahead of them. I throw my makeup in my backpack, along with my brush and 5 portable chargers. Laying the books down strategically, I zip up my backpack and suitcase. I grab my phone from the nightstand and head to the bathroom to brush my teeth before we head out.

It's 1:20, Angie and the girls are running around the house gathering last minute stuff while my dad and I sit in the car waiting. We're taking one of those cars that have a big trunk where you can throw stuff in there from the back seat.
I just hope that Ace will be okay with the care taker my dad hired, I'll miss him...Then I got an idea. "Hey dad? Remember 2 years ago when you let me sit in the trunk on the way to Pop's?"
"Yeah" "Could I do that again? I would have more space and the girls would have more room."He thought about it for a second. "I guess I could strap our stuff to the top. But there'll be one suitcase back there."
"That's fine, there's enough room." "Then I don't see why not."I felt better now, knowing I don't have to sit with those two. He got out and started strapping the suitcases to the top of the car. I ran inside and upstairs to my room, 'accidentally' bumping into Angie on the way.
I forgot my earbuds and grabbed a pillow for the ride. Running back to the car, my dad was still strapping stuff up and was about to strap my backpack up too.
"Dad! Umm, leave my backpack with me. I have portable chargers in there."
He stops to look at me. "Then just take the chargers out. The backpack will take more room with the suitcase." He was about to open the bag...no!"Uh," I struggled to think of an excuse. I run up to him and grabbed the bag. "I'm on my period and my pa-" "oh. Ok. Got it." He quickly says.
Woah...way too fucking close.
He's always been weird talking about periods and blood, Thank god.He steps away and pulls the last strap closed. "The trunk is ready if you want to get in." He opens the drivers door and gets in. I see Angie and her daughters each carrying their bags with their last minute stuff.
They get in while Jane looks at me weirdly as I throw my bag in the trunk and put my knee on the edge. I get in, about to pull the trunk closed. Jane turns around and looks at me in disgust. "Perfect! You're sitting in the trunk? Suits you so well, seeing as you're so ugly." She snickered.
I turn around and smile like an idiot at her. "Oh good! I was trying to look like you today." I say back and pull the trunk closed. She just sits there eyes wide and mouth open.
I've never talked back to the sisters, it feels great. Now that I'm leaving, I don't give two fucks about what they think of me.
She turns around and makes a big scene about it. My dad nor Angie believed her. Seeing as though I never even talk to Jane or Natilie anyway.
I smile to myself as I prop my pillow up and plug my earbuds in. I play my playlist on Spotify and start reading my book. I know I'm a nerd, but romance novels are amazing.
I lay back and open my book when the car starts pulling out. Then I get a text.

???: hey, did you pack already?
Kat: actually I'm pulling out of the driveway right now. We had to move up the wedding by one day. So, could you drive to Houston now? You should get there before I do.
???:oh, late notice. Yeah, I can. Let me just call in sick though. I'm supposed to work tonight.
Kat: thank you, I know this is last minute.
???:my pleasure Kat. I'll see you later then? I'm gonna go get ready to drive to Houston.
Kat: wait! I forgot to bring something...
(Pause)
Kat: could you bring a towel? And don't forget be there at 1:30am.
???:ok, are you sure about this? I would hate for you to regret your decision in the long run.
Kat: I've never been so sure about anything in my entire life.
