"Hi, my name is Leela Perkings and I just transferred from Florida" I said but sighed seconds after. I ran a hand through my hair as I stood in front of my mirror and looked back on myself. My hair fell down to my hips once I had finished running my hands through it and my school uniform looked messy and crumpled as I had been laying on it for the last 2 hours."I can't do this, I am just a girl from Florida how the hell am I supposed to survive a school in New York" I turned to look at Maria, my bestfriend who wasn't even paying attention to me. Her thumbs raced across the keyboard of her phone as her bright blue eyes were glued to her cell phone screen.
"Maria" I yelled causing her to jump and drop her phone onto her bed, she placed her hand over her chest and was breathing heavy as she widened her perfectly shaped eyes. I folded my arms and rolled my eyes at her as she was overreacting, pretending to be scared.
"Shit" she breathed as I was focused on her facial expression and was waiting for her to talk again. "Leela, you could of gave me a heart attack" she finished and started to pick her phone up again but I raced over to her and snatched it out of her hands until she was chasing me around her bedroom and I was laughing as she couldn't catch me.
I forcefully pushed open Maria's bedroom door and ran across the hallway, still holding her phone in my hand. "Leela, stop" she breathed out obviously out of breath from chasing me around her room. I stopped for a second before Maria ran with forceful speed I didn't know was in her.
I ran across the other part of the hallway watching her run behind me which wasn't a good idea as I stopped and bumped into something making me fall down onto the floor and hit my head.
"Ouch" I said and held onto my head where the pain was coming from. "Oops, Sorry Leels" Josh, Maria's older brother said as he offered a hand to me and I grabbed him pulling him down with me instead of getting up.
Maria scoffed right before taking her phone out of my hand and turning on her heels walking back into her room and slamming the door behind her. "Are you okay?" Josh said as he had turned to face me while we was still lying on the floor of his house.
"I'm fine" I said laughing lightly before sitting up and turning my attention to him. I looked at his sparkling blue eyes, they were even brighter than Maria's, but his had a certain shine to them, that made anyone who looked into them fall in love with him.
Before things could get awkward I moved my hand up to his hair and messed it up as I laughed and so did he. "I'm going to miss you, you know" he said as he pulled me up with him so we was standing now and not lying on the floor.
"I know" I replied and smiled at him and it was real smile not like the ones I had been forcing out of me these last few weeks ever since my dad told me we were moving to New York. I think Josh was going to miss me more that Maria was. She doesn't seem too effected by it, but at the same time I don't think it has fully sunken in that I was leaving the small town we had grown up in all our lives to start a whole different life without her by my side.
Me and Maria had been bestfriends our whole lives and I don't think there was ever a time where we had been apart for no longer than a day. And of course, with Maria and I always together along came Josh. Josh was two years older than me and Maria but he had always been there for me when I needed him. Sometimes it felt like he was my bestfriend more than Maria was.
"I am just a phone call away" I reminded him and he nodded slightly without saying anything, he pulled me into him and he wrapped his arms around me. Seconds later I did the same, I could smell his cologne lingering as I realised this was probably one of the last times I would be able to smell it. I leaned my head against his chest as we stayed that way for the next few minutes.
