CHAPTER 8

Erik stood there. Blank faced, for two minutes I supposed. Yet again I was too shocked about this crazy point in my life to even noticed the minutes that fly by. The theatre was silent, and a dark aroma flushed through the air. "Y-you came back....!" I knew that after I had said "I loved you" to Raoul, it pretty much triggered Erik's silence and disbelief. For a moment I had forgotten about Raoul, who was still behind me, trying to knock me out. Little did I know that he picked up his fist, and rammed it into my head. The last thing I saw was Erik's swift running to my rescue, and his comfort sheltering me. I woke up, about two hours after ( from what Erik told me ) and I was cradled in Erik's arms. "Christine....!?" He looked into my deep green eyes, as I stared into his light brown ones. "You are alive!!" He held me close to him, in great pleasure. "Where's.... Raoul....?" I questioned my safety- Erik's face flushed a pure white. "I took you away from him- he is very powerful, and dangerous...." I looked at him. "So.... Where are we?" I looked around as I made my way out of his arms. "My lair. Yet Raoul is coming soon. We need to hurry and leave.... Together." His nervous voice rose as he walked around his large cave. I noticed a deep scarred mark on his neck, which was never there before. But as I examined the mark closely, a large thump interrupted my thought. "He's here." Erik ran and grabbed my arm. I had asked Erik, "Will you hear me....? I-if Raoul catches me....?" I stood after letting the heavy words rescue my mind. "I will try. But we need to go. Quickly." Erik and I ran through the depths of darkness. "I love you....!" I had randomly blurted out- not knowing where the heck the words came from. Erik stopped for a moment, and kissed me. It felt like when the opera house was still running. It felt like the notes I had sang with him. It felt like the comfort I felt when I was around him. Now I was being tracked down and killed by my psycho husband.
