Drabble 3: Dancing in the Rain – Zack Fair

"Do you think it's going to rain?" you asked Zack, looking up at the sky before leaving your house in order to go on your date.

Looking up at the sky himself, he noticed the black clouds that were quickly making their way across the sky. The weather man had said that there was rain due for this evening, but he was hoping for the most part that it would hold off for the sake of your date together. He had been asking you for a date for so long that when you finally said yes he was ecstatic. The last thing he wanted was for a storm to ruin it.

He shrugged lightly and tugged at his jacket as you closed the front door. "If it does you can have my jacket..." he said, smiling as you turned to face him, a smile on your face also.

"What a gentleman..." you laughed, causing him to laugh also as he held out his arm and waited for you to take it. With a quick roll of your eyes, you linked your arm with his and the two of you made your way to the restaurant.

Along the way, the two of you talked about all kinds of things. Zack mainly talked about how he still wasn't sure if this was real or if Cloud was pulling an ultimate prank on him. After you had reassured him numerous amount of times that this was in fact real and wasn't a prank, Zack lightened up and a light blush dusted his cheeks as you told him that you cared for him and figured a date would be fun.

Continuing to talk, laugh and bicker amongst yourselves on your way to your reservation, the two of you were brought out of your happy daze when a loud clap of thunder shot through the sky. You jumped at the sudden noise and clung onto Zack, holding his arm in a death grip as you looked up towards the clouds.

Zack kept his gaze on you however as the two of you continued to walk, your face still directed towards the sky. Another clap of thunder ripped through the sky and your grip on Zack tightened as a small 'oh my god' escaped your lips. You had put your head down now and sped up ever so slightly, lightly dragging Zack behind you as you wanted to hurry up and get to the restaurant.

Following along, Zack flinched slightly when he felt small specks of rain on his face. The two of you were still a fair distance away from the restaurant and if the rain got any heavier you would both get soaked. As if on cue, the rain picked up and soon it was pouring down at such a pace Zack didn't hesitate to take off his jacket and hand it to you.

You thanked him as you put it on but in all honesty, it didn't do much to help you. It had already become drenched thanks to the rain so it felt as though you were putting on a wet rag. Not wanting to be anymore wet than what you already were, you sped up but were stopped when Zack grabbed your arm and pulled you back into his chest.

"What are yo-" you began, looking up at Zack.

He was looking down at you, water dripping from his face and his hair almost completely flat. The sight made you giggle to yourself as Zack's hair was almost always perfectly styled and spiked, so seeing it like this was amusing to you. Seeing your smiling face, Zack took one of your hands in his before he placed another on your waist.

Giving him a quizzical look, it took you a moment to realize that Zack had started to sway from side to side. Catching on to what he was trying to do, you smiled again and placed your free hand on his shoulder and much to your surprise, Zack began to lead you both in a waltz.

You were pleasantly surprised that Zack knew how to waltz...but you didn't know how, which caused you to step on his feet a few times, which made the both of you laugh. Zack twirled the both of you around a few times before he spun you around and ended things by dipping you. You had to squeeze your eyes shut as your face was exposed to the rain, but you let out a laugh as he brought you back up and held onto you tightly.

The two of you stayed standing there, looking at one another. In that moment you had both forgotten that it was cascading down with rain. Zack smiled at you and you returned the smile as he wiped some hair away from your face. He kept his hand on your cheek as you brought your hand up and placed it on the back of his.

"You know..." he began, "I've always wanted to kiss someone in the rain before..." he muttered.

"Then kiss me, dummy..." you laughed.

Delighted by your approval, Zack didn't hesitate as he bent down slightly and pressed his lips against yours. You wrapped your hands around his shoulders as his hands wrapped around your waist and he pressed your body against his. His lips were surprisingly warm against yours and you couldn't help but taste what you assumed to be the rain on his lips and also a small hint of mint. You smiled which caused Zack to smile also before you both pulled away.

You stayed close together however as he gently placed his forehead against yours. You were hoping that the rain would somehow hide the blush that had appeared on your cheeks, but when Zack laughed and pinched your cheeks you knew he could see you blushing.

"Someone get me a bucket to throw up in..." Vanitas said off to the side.

Shocked by his sudden appearance, you moved away from Zack and turned to see Vanitas sitting on his front porch, protected from the rain as he held an open book in his hands.

"THEY FINALLY KISSED!" Sora screamed from inside. You had just managed to see him disappear from the window, only to quickly return with Riku and Roxas at his side.

Both Riku and Roxas gave you and Zack a thumbs up, causing you to blush more as you scratched the back of your head. Zack let out a triumphant laugh as he put his arm around you and directed you back in the direction of the restaurant. You would be surprised if the restaurant would let you eat there considering how wet the two of you were.

"I hope you get sick!" Vanitas called out, earning a glare from you and a very rude gesture from Zack, which caused you to laugh as Vanitas gave Zack the finger also and went back inside.

Much to your disappointment but to Vanitas' delight, both you and Zack ended up sick in bed the next day, texting each other non stop as you reminisced about the date.

Please excuse me as I am giggling to myself because Wattpad wanted to change Vanitas' name to 'Vanilla'. xD
