Ice Cream
Your POV
After a short drive, Jordan and I arrived at a restaurant.
"Let me just say it again, it's just friends having lunch, okay. Nothing more."
"Yeah, fine. I know."
It looked simple, but still beautiful. The walls were white, and the floor was covered in tiled wood. There were wood planks fixed right below the ceiling. The tables and chairs were wood, and the chairs had white cushions on them. Hanging above every table was a white pendant light. It was pretty casual, but didn't look too plain.
A waiter came up to us and greeted us warmly. She had a silver name tag on the right side of her neat uniform, but I didn't manage to see her name.
"Table for two, please," Jordan asked politely with a smile.
"Sure." The waiter smiled back and led the both of us to a booth near the back, where there were fewer voices and more of the soft music.
On both sides of the table, two menus were put neatly in the centre and a napkin nicely folded into a triangle with cutlery placed on it on the right.
This was nice.
Later, Jordan ordered steak and I ordered (favourite food).
"So, uh... How have you been?" Jordan grinned and tried to start a conversation.
"I'm doing pretty good, thank you," I smiled, pushing my hair out of my face. "How about you?"
"Well..." He wiped his smile off his face, placed his elbow on the table and rested his chin on his hand. His green eyes stared straight into my (E/C) ones. "I'm here with you, so of course I'm good." His lips curled into a little smirk, obviously trying not to laugh.
"Hm..." I did the same, still maintaining eye contact. "That was smooth." He chuckled a little. Then, both of us burst into laughter.
I started to take in his little details. How his eyes had brown around the pupils, how his eyes scrunch up when he smiles or laughs, how calming his voice is.
We continued to joke around and could not stop laughing.
We laughed until the food arrived. Even then, we were still giggling a little. We held ourselves back and chatted as we ate. I was trying not to stuff my face with too much food at once. I was really hungry, alright.
When we were finishing our food, Jordan asked, "Do you want to get ice cream?"
"Sure, I mean, why not? You'll pay for it, right?"
"Maybe," he dragged the word. Then, he called the waiter for the bill.
"So..." I started when the waiter left to get the bill. "We're not getting ice cream?"
"Somewhere else,"
"Where?"
"You'll see."
The waiter came back with the bill. I took out my wallet, wanting to pay for it. Jordan suddenly pushed my hand away. "No, I'm paying for it."
"Jordan, at least let me pay for my meal."
"No, (Y/N), it's my treat." Before I could stop him, he quickly took out his credit card and gave it to the waiter. When she left, I couldn't help but smile. I said softly, "Thanks, Jordan." He smiled back.
When the waiter came back with Jordan's credit card, we got off our seats and went to his car.
"Dude, please tell me where we are going," I was getting curious.
"As I said, you'll see."
"You're not going to take me into some weird, dark place and kidnap me or something, right?"
"Yeah... Yeah, I will," Jordan attempted to whisper creepily. I had the biggest grin on my face.
"Alright, we're here," Jordan finally said. I looked out of the window.
"Why are we at the park?"
"To get ice cream, of course. Quick, you don't want to miss the ice cream van. Come on." We got out of the car quickly. He grabbed my wrist as we ran towards it. His hand felt warm and soft.
The owner greeted us with a friendly smile. "What would you guys like?" Jordan looked at me and repeated, "What would you like?" I pursed my lips in thought.
"Is there cookie dough?" The owner nodded. "Jack really likes that flavour." I glanced at Jordan and saw that his smile had faded, but he soon had it back on.
"Two cookie dough ice cream cones, please," Jordan told the owner. He immediately started preparing the ice cream and handed the cones to us. He grinned, "You two have fun on your date." I felt my face heat up. "We're not-"
"Thanks, man." Jordan put his arm around my shoulder and dragged me away.
Once we were out of hearing range from the ice cream van, I nudged him and said, "Dude, what the hell was that?" He put his arms up in defence and sat down on a bench nearby. I sighed and sat next to him and quietly ate my ice cream. I observed the area around me. There was a big tree right beside the bench and pond in front with ducks swimming in it.
Jordan turned towards me and finally broke the silence after a few minutes. "Hey, uh, (Y/N)? Can I ask you a question?"
"Okay, you just did." His shoulders slumped. "Come on, dude. You know what I mean."
"Okay, okay. Shoot." I ate my ice cream as I stared into his deep green eyes.
He looked down at his feet awkwardly. "Will you, uh... go to prom with me?"
