One Direction Kid Fic

How It All Began

A/N: Hey :D So I was asked to do this one furing the week, and I really liked the idea, and since we did future one's, I decided I'd do this request now, and go back to the past before any of the boys were born.

If you're confused, the request asked to write about how Dan and Josh fell in love, so hopefully this is okay :D And the whole gay marraige thing, well I guess in this, it was legal when Dan and Josh were that age ;)

Josh Devine was fifteen. He was fairly short for his age, played drums and had his ears pierced. He was sat in the large study hall of his school, doodling on a notepad instead of doing his homework and studying, staring across the room to a  brown haired, blue eyed at the other side of the room.

Dan Richards, Josh's best friend. He was also fifteen and average height. He played guitar and was currently turned around in his seat, leaning against a wall and talking to a stupid blond girl..

No one knew about Josh's love for his best friend. No one even knew that Josh was gay, not even Dan, and he told Dan everything. Literally. He didn't blame Dan for talking to girls, he was fifteen years old, he was at that age. He just wished Dan was gay too.

Josh jumped up as the bell rang and walked to the door, waiting there for Dan who soon appeared by his side "Hey" Dan smiled, "Get much homework done?" he asked as they went to their lockers and began packing to go home.

"None, I was preoccupied.. You?" Josh asked and Dan nodded, "I had another free earlier so I got most of it done then, I just finished it now" he smiled as he swung his bag on his back and Josh did the same, following Dan out to the bus.

"So do you wanna come over tonight?" Josh asked and they got on, throwing their bags into one oair of seats and sitting down side my side in the pair of seats across from it.

Dan nodded, "yeah sure, let me just text Mum" he smiled and pulled out his phone, looking at his wallpaper of him and Josh at an underaged disco. Little did Josh know that Dan was completely and utterly head over heals with him. Dan hadn't came out yet, he was terrified, but he wanted to tell Josh. He didn't know how he was going to, but he knew he needed to.

It was about two hours later, after dinner when Dan decided there was no time like the present. Biting his lip and playing with his thumbs, he bit his lip, "Josh? I need to tell you something" he mumbled.

Josh looked up from his homework, "Yeah? What's wrong?" Josh asked, clearly concerned when he sensed Dan's worry.

Dan closed his eyes and began to speak, "Well erm.. recently I've been erm, pretty confused about my um, sexuality.." he began, not opening his eyes to see Josh's reaction, "And erm.. I've erm, realised that I'm.. you know, gay" he whispered, opening his eyes, tears filling his eyes as he saw the look of digcust on Josh's face.

"Gay?" Josh said, "Gay?" he repeated, glaring and looking Dan right in the eye, "Get out of my house" he spat, glaring as he waited for Dan to get up and leave, yelling the  horriblest of names after him.

Josh had no idea what he'd just done. He didn't know how or why. Dan was his best friend in the world for crying out loud, and he was in love with him and had wanted him to be gay. He realised maybe he was so scared it was a joke or something that he'd said what he'd said, because he was gay, of course he didnt have a problem with Dan being.

Dan was sitting on the bus, his bag in the seat beside him instead of across the aisle so Josh couldn't sit there, his head phones in blasting music and his face buried in a copy of Harry Potter.

Josh went to sit down beside Dan when he got on the next morning but slowly moved to another seat when he realised he wasn't wanted, sighing sadly and he played on his phone until they got to school when Dan suddenly shot inside to his locker.

Two Weeks passed and the two hadn't said a word to eachother. One evening at around deven P.M, Josh left his house and walked to Dan's, knocking on the door. Dan's mother, Louise, answered.

"Hi.. I don't think Dan really wants to see you Josh" Louise said, going to shut the door when Josh stopped it with his foot, "I get that.. but I need to see him, it's extremely important.. Please" Josh begged.

Louise looked Josh up and down before holding the door open, "He's upstairs, you know where to go".

Josh nodded and ran upstairs, going into Dan's room at the back of the house. Dan wasn't in there, but the window, which lead out onto the roof, was open, and Josh could hear the sound of a guitar coming through it, so pulling his jacket tighter around him, he walked over, standing on the window sill and climbing out into the cold winter night, sitting down on the slanted sun room roof, clearing his throat after a minute so Dan jumped and stopped playing, "Josh".

Josh was surprised he hadn't been yelled at and told to piss off, but he didn't say this, "Dan.. hey, how are you?" he asked softly.

"Still gay if that's what you mean" Dan muttered, placing the guitar down on the roof beside him before lying down, looking up at the stars.

Josh, admittedly, wasn''t quite as fond of lying out on a roof like Dan was, it scared him because it was slanted, and it made him feel like he was going to slip off, but cautiously, he lay ndown and looked up at the stars too, "I am so sorry about that.. I don't have a problem with you being gay I.." he said, Dan cutting him off.

"Really? Couldn't have fooled me" he muttered, and Josh sighed, "Dan, you need to let me explain" he mumbled.

"Go on then" Dan muttered, not  seeming like he was very interested but Josh began anyway, "I was terrified Dan because I'm som completely and utterly in love with you that all I've spent the last six months wishing is that you were gay.. But when you said you are it made me realise that gay or not, that's not gonna make you love me back" Josh whsipered, pulling his legs up to his chest since he'd sat up.

Dan sat up too and stared at Josh, "You.. you love me? Because.. Because I love you too.. I have for ages" he mumbled, looking at Josh in confusion and shock.

Josh stared at him, "Yeah.. yeah I am, I love you so much" he mumbled, slowly leaned forward, meeting Dan halfways and kissing him slow and lovingly, smiling against his lips, "I reall love you" he whispered and caressed Dan's cheek.

"I really love you too..".

Exaclty five years later from that cold wanters night, the doors into the church opened and the music started. Josh turned his head from where he was standing with his best man, his younger brother Ben, looking at the man who mad just walked through the doors, his arm linked with his fathers and his best men, his two brothers, walking behind him.

Josh and Dan didn't look at anyone but eachother as Dan walked up the aisle and took both Josh's hands once he arrived at the alter and the ceremony began, the two going through everything until "I now pronounce you husband... You may now kiss".

"This is it, just the two of us, we're married" Dan smirked 12 hours later as they got on their plane for their honeymoon and Josh nodded. Little did either of them know that very soon they'd soon have five children to keep them busy.
