"CONGRATULATIONS, YOU ARE OUR 100TH CALLER"
The radio presenter's powerful voice boomed through the phone in to my ear drum. My eyes grew wider at his words. I couldn't speak, I simply let out a muffled squeal.
"YOU AND A FRIEND WILL BE ATTENDING THE 2013 VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS, IN JUST 3 DAYS!"
"Oh my God, OH MY GOD. Thank you, thank you so so much!"
"Your tickets will be sent to your accommodation, first class. they should arrive soon. Thank you for participating and have a great night!"
With that, the call ended. My eyes were still spread wide open, unable to blink. I couldn't comprehend what had just happened. I'm not a very lucky person, so this was really unusual for me to actually get something right, to actually win something. I was still grasping the phone in my hand, I couldn't let it go. I was SO excited, but terrified. What would I wear? Who is attending? Oh my goodness, the celebrities I'm going to get to be near! I let out another squeal.
Would they talk to me? Where are my seats going to be? I ran my fingers through my hair, overwhelmed with the news of the upcoming event. I stretched out my legs and hopped off my bed, heading towards the mirror. I stood in front of the mirror, gazing at my worn out appearence. Today had been such an emotional rollercoaster.
First off all, Ryan leaving me crushed me. Well, he didnt't want to leave me, he didn't have a choice. Ryan's family were being transferred to New York city. Ryan's high grades on the last school assessment's had lead him to receive a scholarship from some fancy NYC collage. I didn't want to know the details. The past few weeks had been leading up to today. At least we'd ended things on a positive note and he'd promised to stay in contact. I doubt that he actually would though, he'd make new friends and find a new special someone in New York. He'd probably already forgotten about me. His parents seemed sad to see me leave as well, during the time me and Ryan had been dating, I'd grown quite fond of his family. Their warm, loving nature made me feel I could be myself, unlike with my parents. My parents made me feel like I had to gain outstanding grades to earn their love.
Secondly, thanks to a 'surprise party' my friends threw for Ryan's departure yesterday, my flat was an absolute tip. It took me hours of vacuuming, polishing, dusting, packing things away, moving for furniture, to finally get the place looking presentable for tonight. Becky is coming to stay, we're going to have one of those 'slumber party' things, with facials, popcorn, movies; childish, I know. But Becky loves slumber parties, and honestly, I need cheering up after today, I needed to be consoled by my best friend. Also, tonight would be a great time to tell Becky all about the Video Music Awards, of course I was going to take her. She'd be so excited, and we can check to see everyone that is nominated for an award, check our seats, find out more about everything. I was trying to block out everything that happened with Ryan, well..Ryan all together, and just focus on the VMA's and my best friend.
I had a few hours before I had to pick up Becky, I strolled through to the lounge and started to get everything ready. I really did love my flat, it was small, cute, cosy. The walls were a turquoise colour, with black and white canvas pictures hung on the walls. There was a cream corner sofa spread across the majority of the lounge, there were huge cushions spread across the sofa which matched the walls, a television stood in front of the sofa. There were framed photos, miniature coffee tables and bright coloured flowers in a glass vase. It was all very bright coloured and childish, but I loved it. It was sort of a rebellious act as well, my parents hadn't allowed me to have bright colours or my own furniture when I lived with them. Everything had to be plain and orderly, I hated it. So, I got a part time job, saved up, and got out of there.
I grabbed my keys and locked the front door, heading towards to lift. I went down to the ground floor and made my way through the lobby and to the car park. I unlocked the car and started up the engine. I drove to the local supermarket to get snacks and facials for tonight. I had to admit, I was actually really excited.
