(Please be patient with any errors :) I didn't have as much time to edit this chapter.)

One day, I heard Nightwing's voice over the Cave speakers as I was alone in the gym, running on the treadmill.

"Beast Boy, Impulse, Blue Beetle, Miss Martian, Robin, Bumblebee, Superboy, Lagoon Boy, Wonder Girl and Batgirl. Report for de-briefing."

I stopping in shock, stopping the machine. I was not a member of the team; Batman had not allowed me to join until my skills had improved. I watched the young boy with green skin race past me, the new speedster, the boy in blue armor, Miss Martian, and black girl who could shrink until she was a couple inches tall, the buff black haired guy, and a guy who looked like a fish, and the blond girl with the lasso all raced by me. I resumed running, thinking I must have imagined it. Then Nightwing's voice rang out again.

"Batgirl, report for de-briefing." I jumped off, grabbed my belt and cowl, pulled on my hand guards and ran into the Zeta tube room.

"You're late, Batgirl." Nightwing said as I entered the room.

"Sorry, I thought I had misheard." I answered.

"Understandable. Now Batman has a mission for some of us. Batgirl, he has given me permission to use you as a temporary member of the team." He said.

"Our mission, an alien force has attacked all major cities on the globe. Many of the Leagues' members have already fallen. The only ones that remain are Batman, Wonder Woman, Martian Man-hunter, Aqualad, Superman, and Flash. While they keep the aliens occupied we are to infiltrate the point of their landing and destroy the mothership. Leaving them leaderless. However, we have to use the minimum number of people for this mission, the rest of you are needed to help the League. Miss Martian, Batgirl, Robin and I will infiltrate the ship. The rest of you will assist the League. You will take the Sphere, we will take the Bioship. Good luck, all of you. Now go!"

"One minute, Nightwing." Said Bumblebee. "Where's Mal?" she asked.

It took me a second, but I realized that Mal was the man usually took control of missions, staying at the cave.

"Bumblebee, I'm sorry but he died fighting with the Justice League." Was the reply. We all nodded and Bumblebee turned away, and Wondergirl put a hand on her shoulder. Bumblebee and Mal had been together for some months. Then the four of us headed towards the Bioship while the rest ran towards the Sphere, who had transformed into her bike form. Once we were in the Bioship, Robin turned to Nightwing.

"D- I mean, Nightwing, just how dangerous is this mission?" He asked.

"Dangerous enough. The fate of humanity depends on our success." Nightwing replied. I took a deep breath. My first mission and the world was at stake. Of course.

"You okay, Batgirl?" Asked Mega'an.

"Yah, just a little nervous I guess." I replied, hoping Nightwing wouldn't say anything. But he did.

"Just remember your training." He said. I bit back a reply. Remembering it wouldn't be the issue, not screwing it up would be.

After flying for a couple hours, we came to a stop outside a huge ship. It had the same shape as a crab, and was bristling with weapons.

"Nightwing, a plan would be nice." Robin said, he was tense with anxiety.

"We get inside, take out her engines and weapons, and then get out." He said. He checked his wrist computer then swore.

"The Justice League is down. Only the ones we sent are still fighting." He said, explaining his language. I felt shock go through my body. In seven months Batman had become like a father to me. Admittedly, a father who said little, and offered little praise. But still, a father. I could only imagine how Nightwing and Robin felt, who had trained with him for years. I saw Robin turn his head to the side, closing his eyes. Miss Martian let the tears go down her face unashamedly. I went cold, my eyes were dry.
