=+ Paige's POV +=
I finish up bandaging Charms wing quickly, seeing as there's not much to see too really. I turn her around on the stool and start applying cream to the small cuts.
She looks at me intently as I dab on the cuts, her watery blue eyes focused on my hand- which sometimes makes her go cross eyed.
"So," She says as I start straightening up, "do you know what happened?"
"Honestly, not much. Ever hear of the skyrates?" I ask, though I think she should know who they are. She's an angel after all. Not surprisingly she nods.
"They way people describe it makes it sound like one of their attacks- airships, fire, brutality in general. But the skyrates haven't made attacks like that in years. They haven't had a reason to."
She mulls over the information.
"I don't think they were acting on behalf of the Skyrates. One of them, a guy, killed the Guild Master Felicity to get at some sort of book." Charm says softly.
"What did he look like?" I'm curious- many of the reports included men but I wanted to make sure he was who I was think of as many had seen a man run onto an airship halfway through the attack, a mousy haired woman with a bright blue jacket hot on his heels.
"Dark skin," Charm closes her eyes tightly, "dark, dark green eyes. Yellowish shirt, with a green feather on a string hanging from his neck."
I raise an eyebrow at the detail she goes to.
"He had black wings, I think I saw some sort of tail as well but it didn't look like a hybrids one, like the woman's."
"Woman?" I ask as I throw things into a bag before slinging it over my shoulder.
"Mousy hair, blue coat, blue eyes. Chain on her boot. Raccoon tail."
"Huh, chain on the boot means they're a Captain."
Charm looks up at me again with those watery blue eyes.
"She wasn't in charge, the man was."
"Interesting." I muse before I look at the sun, which is close to setting.
"Since you need to find this friend of yours, let me bring you to Voidstone. Elves are an extreme rarity but he might have ventured that far if he wasn't injured." Charm smiles widely at my offer before she hops up.
"Hey! No flying." I say sternly, making her face wrinkle before she huffs and gestures to me.
"Well you'll have to lead the way then."
I chuckle and start moving along the trodden grass towards a sandy path through dense forest- the path becoming very dark very quick.
There's a sudden shriek to the left of us and both Charm and I move at lightening pace- me taking out my dagger and Charm drawing a bow from her back, tensing the arrow on the string.
I look at her and she shrugs. I walk carefully into the forest where the scream issued to hear a distant growing grow gradually louder until another shriek ring through the air. I break into a run, branches making shallow cuts on my legs as they whip against them. We break into a clearing, to find wolves upon wolves hounding a lone demon woman.
A twang sounds from just behind me an arrow pierces the chest of the wolf nearest to the woman- who's poking at the wolves with a spear that seems designed more for killing people them animals.
A run forwards before sinking my dagger deep into the back of the nearest wolf- dragging it a bit before releasing its dead weight and lodging the dagger into the neck of a wolf who's snapping nearby.
More twangs fill the air as Charm picks off a majority of them from a branch I have a sneaking suspicion she flew to. I dispatch the rest and stand panting, looking at the demon woman.
"Thanks." The woman says shakily, pushing herself off the tree she had been pressed against.
"Don't mention it." I smile as I bend and wipe my dagger on the grass- noting Charm taking her arrows back from the wolves with a green look on her face.
"I'm Paige, what about you?"
"Malish." The demon woman smile broadly, "my names Malish."
