Laughing at distant memories

"The nurse is so under qualified I don't know whether to laugh or be worried," the boys were crossing the student side of the parking lot as Craig lead the way to his car. As much as it seemed to be an exaggeration Craig wasn't lying.  It took the nurse about thirty minutes to realize that Tweek had a fever and was seconds away from calling an ambulance before Craig offered to take him home instead, to which Tweek was both grateful and nervous about.

"U-um thanks for the r-ride home," he internally flinched at his idiotic stutter that seemed to only happen when he most wanted it not to. Craig's old blue Subaru wasn't the best but it was better than walking.

"Yeah, no problem," Craig turned on the engine and drove out of the school parking lot,"hey are you hungry?"

Tweek twitched at the unexpected offer. Lunch with Craig would would be social suicide for him, so why would he willingly eat lunch with a loser like Tweek.

"U-Uh, no I am fine," Tweek's stomach cried out in hunger making his cheeks turn beet red.

"You sure about that," Craig stopped at a red light and turned right. "Look I know I can be a dick sometimes but just trust me this time and have lunch with me."

Tweek really didn't know whether or not to believe Craig, it's not like he ever gave any reason for him to. Though as they made their way closer to his house he couldn't help from whisper a soft 'okay'.

"Okay then, hold on to something" Craig made a sharp right turn forcing Tweek to tightly grip on to his seat and the person driving behind him to yell obscenities to them. Craig had hoping, borderline praying and begging, for Tweek to change his mind because there was nothing in that moment that he wanted more than to spend more time with him.

"T-thanks for lunch, a-and I'm really sorry you had to pay for the whole thing, I didn't think my card would be declined," Tweek sighed with his head down.

"For the fifth time Tweeks, it's okay I really don't mind," Craig patted him in the back and ran to Tweek's side of the car to open his door," here let me get that for you."

Tweek quickly got in and put on his seat belt as Craig made his way around t the divers side.

"Read-, hey why is your face so red, do you feel sick again," Craig gently placed the back of his hand to Tweek's forehead," you're a little warm, let's get you home, okay?"

Tweek nodded slowly and closed his eyes, sighing as he rested his head against the car window.

It wasn't long before they were at Tweek's house, making their way up to his room. Craig's hands were once again around his waist to help him walk without hurting himself.

"So, is there anyone that can take care of you."

"My mom comes home in a few hours," Tweek picked up a few clothes from the floor and threw them in the hamper as he made his way to his bed to lay down.

"Well, then I will stay here until she get here," Craig leaned against the door frame, both sets of limbs crossed.

"What, no, go home," Tweek all but yelled, quickly sitting up, causing his vision to spin and his stomach to cramps up as if he was going to vomit.

"No, you're sick and I will not have a guilty conscious about leaving you alone," Craig uncrossed his legs and made his into Tweek's room," so you can kick me out but I'll just come back in."

"Fine, I don't feel like arguing," Tweek laid down again and kicked his desk chair for Craig to sit.

Tweek closed his eyes and not long after his breathing evened out, Craig chuckled at how cute and at peace the shorter boy looked when he was asleep. A lot of people gave him shit about his twitch and how defensive he was all the time but it was out of his control. Sure Tweek could lay off the coffee but at this point in his life it would've have been easier for him to lose his dominant arm and learn to do everything with the one left. People were just mean, himself included, because over the day that they had been talking Craig saw that Tweek was still the same cute kid he knew in elementary.

Maybe even cuter than he thought.

No those thoughts could get him in so much trouble, plus he wasn't a fag. He liked Wendy's ass and Bebe's tits, so there was no possible way he could have feelings for Tweek.

Tweek mumbled and furrowed his eyebrows in his sleep. Craig got up from where he was sitting and sat on the floor next to Tweek's bed. He reached for Tweek's hand and held it for a while to see if that would somehow relieve him of the bad dreams. Weirdly enough it did, once Craig felt sure that the nightmare was over he tried to take his arm back but Tweek held on to it tighter forcing Craig to get closer to the bed. Craig stretched out his leg under the bed and laid his head on his shoulder, by the look of things this was going to take a while.

Out of the corner of his eye Craig saw a picture frame on the night stand. With his opposite arm he reached for it and saw that it was a photo of two boys. They were on a stage of some sort with graduating certificates in hand. Both were missing teeth, the one on the right was missing his two front teeth while the other was missing one tooth from the top and two from the bottom. They were half hugging each other while facing the camera with squinty eyes and their tongues out.

The one on the right was Tweek and on the left was him.

It was their elementary graduation. They were best friends back then, inseparable even. So much to the point that the reason they were both missing teeth was that Tweek had spent the night the day before. Everything was going per usual, even Tweek falling asleep first, until he had a nightmare and rolled over the edge of Craig's top bunk. Since Craig was still up he tried to stop him from falling but he reached too late and they both fell face first onto the awaiting wooden floor beneath them.

Craig laughed at the distant memory. It seemed like he would always have to be there to save Tweek.

His eyelids felt heavy and before he knew it he had fallen asleep, right hand clutched in Tweek's embrace and the left one holding the frame on his lap.
