AN: This is my first story, be gentle! But if there are any mistakes, I apologize in advance and will be fixed if pointed out. Enjoy :)
[Saturday-7:30am]
"Heather, I want to try. I think I'm ready."
He stares at me with pleading eyes, knowing that this is a big step in both of our lives. "I am so happy with you, and we love each other and I believe, no, I know we're ready for this. Just think about it."
I lift myself off the couch from sitting beside him. He looks at me as I begin to pace in front of him. I'm not sure if I want this, but he's right, we're both adults and love each other. I look at him, and he looks deep into my eyes.
I sigh and break the eye contact and sit back down next to him. "I don't think I'm ready yet. I love you, but I need more time."
He takes my hands in his and nods.
"It's okay. I just wanted to put the thought out there. If you're not ready, we can wait as long as you need." He stands and walks out of the living room.
"Wait, Ethan!" I push myself up and catch up to him in the kitchen. He turns to me. I press both hands on each side of his face and bring his face down to look in my eyes.
"I want a baby, I do. I love you too." I smile and press my lips to his.
He smiles into the kiss and then pulls back.
"I know. I was just hoping to have little ones running around here." He chuckles and nudges his chin behind me towards the rest of the house.
I smile at him and give a small chuckle as well. That does sound amazing, but its not something I want right now.
He looks at me and as if reading my mind, he nods in understanding.
"I have to go to work but please think about it." He kisses my cheek, grabs his briefcase and his keys and walks out of the house.
I sighed and walked to open the fridge and grab a water. I decide to get an opinion on this.
I walk to my bedroom and grab my phone on my nightstand. I look through my contacts and find the girl I needed to talk to. I tap on her name, lift the phone up to my ear and sit on my bed and wait.
"Hello?"
"Hi Emily." I smile as I imagine her doing the same.
"Hey Heather, hows your weekend going?"
I decide to get straight to the point. "Ethan told me he's ready for kids."
"Oh my goodness!! That's great, isn't that supposed to be a good thing? Why do you sound like its not a good thing?" I can imagine the smile turn to a frown upon her face.
"I don't feel like I'm ready for this yet. I love him, but I don't think I'll be ready anytime soon." I begin to play with the strings on my hoodie.
"You're young Heather. You're both 25 years old, that means you have plenty of time. I'm sure he'll understand. You've been together for like what, 2 years and have know each other for 3. He loves you and I'm sure everything's gonna be fine."
"You're right. I just don't want to disappoint him. And we aren't even married yet!" I sigh.
"You guys are engaged, so it doesn't really matter. And you won't disappoint him. Unless..." She suddenly stops herself from continuing.
"Unless what?" What was she gonna say?
"Nothing. Never mind." I hear panic in her voice.
"Just tell me!" She knows I absolutely hate it when everything is not being said.
"Unless...unless its about her." She spills.
My breath catches in my throat and I begin to cough. My mind goes blank.
"I'm so sorry to bring that up!" I hear her panicking.
I cant talk about her. Not now. I cant believe she brought her up when she knows its a sensitive topic. I shake my head as the memory of that day from five years ago come rushing back. I can't. I'm still not ready to talk about it, no matter how long its been. I left, even when I said I wouldn't.
My eyes begin to water. I cant help the sob that comes out and I hang up on Emily. I'll see her on Monday anyway.
I lay back into my bed and go under the covers. Why does this still affect me. Its been five years, yet I still burst into tears when she's brought up. I look to the side and see that the alarm reads 8:00.
My thoughts of everything still feel fresh. I remember her face and say,
"I hope you're okay."
AN: Its short, I know. But its just to begin with. I will be updating very soon cause I have lots of free time. Hope everyone stays to give me a chance :) Vote and follow. Thank you
