The morning had come too soon and maya seemed to notice that riley was acting off since the whole huckleberry moment between me and her and him. It was clear she like him maya thought she would have told her by now they're best friends and it hurt maya that riley didn't tell her. "Okay Riley im not gonna sit here and watch you act different because of some supid huckleberry I don't have feelings for him like you do!" Maya looked at her and she had just completely lied to her best friend because she always put rileys feelings first no matter the situation or how maya wanted to feel riley always came first in maya's eyes. Riley looked at maya "Really you dont have a crush on lucas?" Maya laughed "Why would I he and I are completely different and we have nothing in common." With maya saying that she walked out of her best friends room feeling heart broken and also guilty that she lied to her best friend they have been best friends since they were 7 and maya put rileys feelings before hers it didn't seem to bother her anymore and maya had borrowed the matthews spare car to drive into town to do a little shopping and of course she saw huckleberry there shopping for some clothes and she laughed "Well well well isnt it a huckleberry in the flesh once again" lucas laughed "Well shortstack unlike you i know what people like to wear and your choosing all wrong." Mayas face turned bright red from embarrassment and she put the clothes down "Will you help me then? I have no clue and I didn't come with riley and shes been acting off so i needed some space." Lucas nodded and took her by the hand over to the clothes section that girls would normally wear "okay so i think you need a dress because jeans aren't going to pass for an everyday thing" lucas laughed looking at maya and she was looking at him and her heart was beating a million miles per minute and she saw him leaning in and she knew she couldn't do this to riley but she couldn't help it maya started leaning in too. And automatically their lips crashed together and maya pulled him closer and when she pulled away "That was some kiss ranger rick" maya said looking at him "i could say the same short stack" lucas said and there was another boy who walked over and it must've been lucas's friend "Zay get out of here!" Lucas said throwing a boot at him "Well well well the cowboy found his cowgirl didn't he?" Zay said in a cheesy voice and made kissy noises and maya immediately ran away feeling completely guilty of what she just did but she couldn't tell riley what just happened because then riley would hate her and she wouldn't want riley to hate her and she got into the car and she drove to a place where she could feel calm and that place was a lake maya came out her late the night she came to North Carolina never would she have thought that she would fall for a cowboy and she just sat there feeling disappointed in herself and she had decided to come clean to riley and she pulled out her phone and sent a simple text.
M: Im so sorry riley
Maya waiting for at least 5 minutes for a response from riley.
R: for im confused what did you do maya?
M: Me and lucas had an accidental kiss pleas dont hate me.
R: YOU WHAT! HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME YOUR SUPPOSED TO BE MY BEST FRIEND! DO YOU NOT CARE ABOUT MY FEELINGS!
maya just couldn't hold back her tears and she let out a sob called her mom who she needed more than ever right now.
K: maya sweet heart hows North Carolina?
M: i want to come home momi want to come home and forget this whole trip i kissed a guy riley liked and she thinks I dont care about her feelings or anything.
Maya told her mom everything and she told maya to suck it up and put your foot down to riley she isn't going to get everything she wants and she shouldn't put rileys feelings before her own because the way she feels is most important. Maya went to the bull riding show knowing riley was there to watch lucas "riley" maya said when she found her "im your bestfriend and yes we have fights but doesn't mean i need to keep putting you before me! I almost gave up the damn guy of my dreams because you liked him and it was one stupid ass kiss! I need to be able to be happy and you don't see it! When I am watching you with your happy life i leave the room to cry i can't keep doing this im going home!" Maya said looking at riley and maya walked away because she had snapped for the first time in years.
