As she makes her way to the register to wait in line, she scans the sides of sweets, conveniently stocked right by the cashier and conveyor belt.
The sweets were just waiting to be bought off as last minute buys by waiting, impatient customers.
'One fifty for a chocolate bar?! That's too much!' She thought, looking at the price tag located right in front of the box of diabetes.
A person waiting in front of her, who also happened to be the next in line, happened to spot the chocolates and snatches two in a haste, placing them onto the belt.
Jinhee makes a face, not even bothering to hide it, as it was simply too much for the young teen. She simply shrugs as it was the person's loss.
She looks from the guy to the employee working the cashier. His hair was a dark hazelnut color. She slowly moves her gaze from his face down to his chesty, blue apron, finding his name tag.
'Jisoo Hong.' She looks back up to his face to see him still scanning his current customer's items, a busy but soft look on his face. He finally presses a couple of buttons, the money-registering device sounds a ding.
"Okay sir, that will be four dollars." The guy digs into his jean pocket, getting out his wallet, opening it to only pull out a measly one dollar bill.
He sheepishly grins at the cashier worker.
"Uh, I guess I'm a bit off..." The man nervously chuckles.
"Ah hold on, I'm sure I've got some spare change somewhere." He pats his clothes, trying to scrap up any spare cents he could find.
The cashier boy who's name was Jisoo Hong, was waiting for the man with a slight anxious look on his face as the line of customers was growing impatient.
"Come on buddy, we haven't got all day!"
"I've got places to go and mouths to feed!"
"Sheesh, hold on!" He blurts, feeling very well pressured.
Because of the time the man was wasting to frisk himself for change, Jisoo whipped out of his own wallet five bucks, telling the man to keep his dollar.
He did the transaction and quickly bagged the candy and items and gave it to the man, wishing him off with rushed goodbye.
He then looks back and sees a girl in front of him. He flashes a smile, sheepishly.
"Sorry for the delay."
Jinhee shakes her head, smiling.
"It's fine."
Her eyes begin to roam as it felt awkward to just stand there and stare at the guy, scanning away like it was nothing.
A written sign catches her attention, her eyes widening in excitement.
'Buy five for two?' She hurries away from the register to this small refrigerator. She soon hurries back to the cashier.
"Sorry." She places the popsicles onto the belt, flustered, as the guy was left waiting again for another customer.
With an eyebrow raised, he says,"For a second, I thought you were going to run away and leave me alone with this stuff." Jinhee nervously chuckles, scratching the nape of her neck.
"But you were only getting popsicles." He leans his head to the side, squinting. "A pretty, good buy, too."
He quickly bags all of her things, handing the two black bags to her, and she tucks the receipt into her back pocket.
"Thank you for shopping at Yi Shin Market, please come again." She nods at the guy, leaving with a smile on her face.
'Maybe I will.' She giggles, as she sways the bags hanging in the cushiony crease of her elbow.
