The warm breeze and mist covered the forest, as the trees rustled and sheltered the land, the clouds covered only a portion of the sky, as the sun was bright, glittering on the trees, the meadow blooming with flowers, the forest was my home.
I didn't think this story would start with me, here, out in the woods, because there was a time when harmony wasn't playing video games on your Xbox, it wasn't watching football and betting, it was much peaceful, it was much more than that, it was my life.
In a darker, more misty and cold area in the forest, was a river, leading out into the open pond. A child lay in a basket, crying out, water splashing onto it as it reached the edge. More darkness emerged from beyond, the trees rustled even more. The darkness grew bigger, and bigger, as a wolf approached, soon even more approached, the baby was surrounded. The wolves snarled and growled. A tawny coated wolf emerged and looked at the baby. "Silence!" It snarled in a wolf language, as the other wolves noise died out " We shall raise this one as our own," The tawny wolf went on. "You can't be serious! It is a human child, can you not see?" Another wolf snarled, it clearly disliked the human very much " Although, this one cries out for us, like the forest, the trees rustle for us, the wind cries to us, the prey calls for us, and so does this child," Said the tawny wolf, the other wolf snarled. The tawny canine picked up the child " We shall name her Maya, of my heart," The tawny wolf continued. The wolves carried the child far into the trees, protecting her from danger and other animals which tried to eat her.
Many years passed, Maya grew stronger, and became one with the wolves. She would understand their every growl and snarl. She would understand wolf cultures and ate prey raw. In the meadow, mentioned earlier, were four wolves, snarling and growling at each other. Suddenly, a human emerged from the shadows, it was a woman from the looks of her long eyelashes, she had long messy ginger hair and a rare eye color in a mix of light blue and a greenish amber,
her face added up beautifully with her small turn up nose, she looked 18. The other wolves snarled at her and pounced onto her playfully "You got me!" She growled in a sort of wolf language, the wolves leaped off and groomed their fur in a friendly wolf custom, Maya sighed and sprang to her feet, although normally she would be on her feet and hands. Maya stumbled into a cave, as it was her first time walking, the other wolves looked at her wide eyed.
"What is she doing to herself?!"
"I never trusted humans!"
"Stay back, she might kill us!"
"I knew she was never one of us,"
Comments scattered the forest, as Maya heard growls and snarls, Maya felt different, as she stood out in a human form. As Maya finally reached a cave, she leaped up in inhuman speed onto a cliff at the end of the cave; the end was another entrance, leading into the forest. The cliff overlooked a forest filled with a herd of wolves.
"Ah.. There's my little Maya," A voice rang, as a the tawny coated wolf (from earlier in the story) turned back to see Maya.
"Heh... Mother, I need to speak with you," Maya sat down in a humanly way for the first time. The tawny pelt wolf looked amused.
"Yes, my sweet?" The wolf looked as if she already knew what they were about to talk about.
"Its with me.. Why am I different from the others?" Maya looked at her mother as if she wanted to know so badly.
"What do you mean? Everyone is different, Zan (the first wolf that doubted the human from the start), he likes to eat bugs, Zuzu (his sister), she doesn't," The tawny wolf pointed out.
"No.. I meant, why don't I have fur like the others? Why do I have only two feet instead of four paws? Why do I only have hair growing from my head, and not fur, like you, Gaia?" Maya replied.
The tawny wolf sighed and looked back to where the cliff was overlooking, then she turned her head to a small town "Do you see that place?," Gaia tilted her head in a wolf custom.
"Hmm.. Yes, I do, what about it?" Maya looked curiously over at the town.
" Well, there's something I haven't told you Maya, I'm not your mother, you were raised by wolves, you're a human, and I think you were born from there," Gaia turned back to Maya.
Maya didn't reply.
"Isn't that what you wanted to hear?" The wolf looked down as if she doubted telling Maya the truth.
"I have so many questions.. I-" Maya paused as the wolf interrupted Maya "No, you shall not go, you belong with family,"
"But, I don't think they like me! I heard them saying bad things about me and-" Maya was interrupted again.
"You shall not go, understand?" Gaia exclaimed, Maya fell silent and looked down "Good," Gaia continued.
Seconds of silence passed and suddenly wolves emerged from the cave and bowed in a wolf like way "Gaia, something has struck Muddy Shores," One of the wolves began "Is it important? Show me" Gaia looked worried as she padded over to the wolf "Follow us," The wolf went on, and they leaped in inhuman speed and rushed to the scene.
