Sally hit the buzzer on her alarm.
"Ugh! Why do I have to wake up at 6:50 in the morning just to catch a bus?"
She groggily got out of bed and began to get ready. "What should I wear today?" she asked herself. As Todd, her long-time crush was no longer dating his girlfriend, Trina, she decided to try and look as cute as possible. "Hopefully I can catch his attention today!" She carefully skimmed through her closet, and picket her light pink sundress as well as a white cardigan and nude flats. "This is the perfect outfit!"
When she made her way downstairs, her brother and mother were already at the table. "Hi Honey, I have breakfast made for you." She handed Sally a plate with an omellette and fresh fruit, then gave her a kiss on the head.
"Thanks Mom!" She shovelled the food down her throat as she had not realized how hungry she was.
"Slow down Honey, you do need to chew your food" her Mom laughed.
"I'm just excited to go to school today, that's all." Sally said looking up from her plate.
"I swear we're not related." Her brother grumbled. "It's way too early for this," he said as he got up from the table.
"So, why are you so excited to go to school today?" Her mom asked.
"I just want to learn. What else would it be?" She rolls her eyes, picks up her bag and heads outside. The bus was supposed to arrive at her stop in five minutes, luckily her best friend was waiting for her. "Hey Deliah! Did you hear about Todd? Crazy that he broke up with Trina, right?"
"She was annoying, so not really that surprised. The real question is how long do you think Todd is going to be on the market? I wouldn't mind a bit of that. He is seriously so gorgeous, I don't even know how it's possible," her best friend said.
"I know! I wish ne would just hurry up and ask me to marry him! Sally sighed. Deliah raised an eyebrow at her. "A girl can dream, alright?" They both laughed, as the bus was head towards them. They boarded and walked towards the back seats, sitting down on the last seat. Deliah leaned back, "It's great to be the oldest on the bus!"
"I agree, so over sitting at the front with the younger kids. Though, I feel like it would be even better if I had my license and a car. I still only have my permit!" Sally exclaimed. "I agree with you sister" Deliah said while looking out the window. "Look Sally! Todd's driving in the car beside us!" Sally moved forward. "He is so dreamy!"
She looked out of the window then and saw him, driving his Black car. Sitting next to him was his best friend who turned to look up at the bus window as she was staring out of it. Sally quickly sat back in her seat and hoped he hadn't seen her staring. Todd and Darren were the most popular boys in school and did everything together. As they were both single now, due to recent events, she only imagined what chaos there was going to be in school. "I feel like there is going to be some competition to see who snags him," Sally said. Deliah nodded with a frown, "I guess we will just have to step up our game."
The bus arrived at school, and the students filed out. Sally and Deliah were the last to exit. Deliah looked at Sally, "I feel like our year is about to change for the better." Sally smiled, "I definitely agree."
