IMPORTANT: this is a repost of the original, word for word. There was a problem with that one, nothing to drastic but big enough for me to want to post a back up just in case.
The two will be updated together and kept in the same pace, literally, just the same story with two different links. Hope you enjoy.
****It was not a stormy night. It went far beyond a mere storm, the worst one in the last two hundred years. It was cold enough to snow but warm enough to rain and so it did both. The clouds were thick and grey, it was obvious that it would last for quite some time.
Roseabella Summers could hear the sounds of the storm as the elements feel to the earth in an angry display of power and authority. She felt the thunder shake the very foundation of her home, a tall red brick cottage that had stood for countless years before, through wars and sun shine, was being threatened by none other than mother nature herself.
And as she lay on her and her husbands bed, sweat forming on the surface of her skin and trying to control her breathing, her midwife Genevieve beginning to yell orders to remain calm and wait to push a few more moments, she wasn't entirely sure how it was her life came to this.
Roseabella couldn't help but to glance over at the empty side of the bed her husband was suppose to occupy. Travis was to be home a week ago to insure his presence when it came time for her to deliver but neither of them predicted the storm. Nature always had a way of reminding us that it had the final decision in what it is we humans wished to do. Roseabella just wished that it picked a better time to interfere.
"Lady Rose, I need you to start pushing for me now, and don't forget to breathe, okay? Ready? On the count of three, one, two, three, push!"
Roseabella screamed just as the mightiest of thunder bolts seemed to have shot the heart of the house with a single touch. If she wasn't in so much pain, she would have been more concerned with the very real possibility of the house coming down on their heads.
Just the same, she clutched the covers that lay next to her, feeling the cold reminder of her husbands absence.
"Again, lady Roseabella, you're doing so great, on three, one, two, three, push!"
And just like the first time, Thunder rocked the house and the sound of the bricks fighting against the storm winds could be heard throughout. Just towards the end of her violent cry, a flash of lightening illumated the sky giving the sun itself a run for its money. Rose tried to focus.
"Once more then you'll be done, one more big push and that'll be it, ready? One, two, three, push!"
This time, she felt her vocal cords shake with the roof of the house, both on the verge of tearing away completely. The room grew bright with the lightening bolt that struck the ground right outside the window. The snow turned to hail, the rain to snow, and the rest fell in cool, harsh, drops of something she could only describe as unidentified nature. The wind smack against the closed windows like an angry battle cry and although she wasn't much superstitious she couldn't help the thought that something changed. For better or for worse, a balance had been altered and all they could do was wait for the storm to pass.
Finally, she heard her baby cry. It was a deafening scream, putting every other noise to rest. And that it did, for as soon the scream left the small newborns mouth, the storm silenced, the earth, still. As if waiting for its next command.
"It's a boy, m'lady! A beautiful baby boy." Genevieve cleaned the child, cutting the umbilical cord before wrapping him in a stark white bundle and handing him over to his tired mother.
Roseabella weakly smiled down at the child in her arms as he stared blankly up into her eyes. It was in that moment that she realized the color, a startling gray with flecks of the purest gold scattered about and an undeniably undertone of... knowledge. Far beyond what he should know.
"What will you call him, lady Rose?"
She thought about the storm, how his cries managed to put an end to the violence of nature and his eyes, his bright, knowing eyes.
"Dýnami. He will be called Dýnami."
She looked to her son again, and after a few moments of eye contact, he blinked. Just once, as if in a way to show understanding.
"You're going to change the world, my beautiful boy. You're going to make me so proud." And as though she couldn't stand another second of being awake and alert, she drifted to sleep with her baby, her Dýnami, silently watching over her.
****it's a new story in a new genre with some new languages, and some other new things, with a fraction of the swear words so we'll just see where this takes us.
This'll be my first fantasy style type mythical work so bare with me as I try to figure out where I want to take it and how I want it to go. I've never had this much free range and as I continue on with this I'm really starting to realize how loose the rules in the fantasy realm are so, again, we will just have to wait and see how things go...
