"You can do this. Breathe Andy Breathe."I assure my shaking body and racing pulse.
So staring at my weak reflection and talking to myself might not be the best approach at relaxing, but it's all I got before my drivers test starts in a minute.
I'm not sure why I was so nervous for this test, I've done worse dares than a measly drivers test.
Women up Avery.
I'm not going to fail.
I will do this.
I- Oh my flipping mermaid, I need to go.
I pack my stuff away and practically sprint out of the restroom. My observer or whatever is standing by the doorway with a clipboard.
Pink nail polish, frizzy red hair, jeans and a shirt thats tighter than anything I've ever seen completes her whole attire.
The women-actually girl-looked barely older then me. I have a feeling this test is going to be hard.
I walk up to her and flash a smile. She just takes a look at my tattered converse and hoodie then frowns.
"Your Andrea Mathew?" Her I-Smoke-A-Pack-A-Day voice draws out.
"Yep." I answer as she turn and walks towards the double doors. I follow and barely catch the door before she walks-very fast- towards a grey minivan that's provided. Since my parents work and need their car I had to ask to rent one to test in. As soon as I pass, I'm supposed to get my own car.
I run to catch up and sit down into the drivers seat.
"Okay Andrea, here is the directions."
--------
"Now park here." She scratches out and I nervously parallel park on the street back at the office building. So far I had only messed up one turn, but I'm still shaking.
"I reviewed your results." She stops and sets the clipboard down. "You passed." I can't help but detect disappointment, but I ignore since I just passed.
Grinning I turn out of the car and pull out my phone.
Typing in the familiar number I'm still grinning as I hold it up to my ear.
"Hello."
"Guess what?!" I practically scream at my best friend Emily.
"You passed?!" Emily guesses, knowing me THAT well.
"Yeah!" I squeal.
"We HAVE to celebrate." She breathes out in excitement.
"How?" I ask.
"I have an idea....meet my at my house in a half hour, put on something nice." She says then hangs up.
I sit smiling at my phone then drive off happily. My best friend always knew what to do, I trusted her with this. It's only a celebration for my drivers test, why would I be worried. It's going to be the same as every night, even though Emily is trying to fool me and call it a special night.
But for some reason I'm worried. I couldn't seem to shake the feeling away. It kept resurfacing, but I chose to ignore it my drive to my house.
Once I park in the driveway, I rush into the house and up the stairs. Avoiding my family all together.
I rush over to my closet, looking for something nice, but a knock interrupts me.
"Come in." I yell and the door opens. I don't even look over at the person, I already know it's my mother.
"How'd you do?" She asks excitedly.
Rummaging through my clothing I answer half heartedly,"I passed" then pull out a tank top and high waisted shorts.
"That's great sweetheart!" She gushes happily. I still ignore her and plug in my straightener.
"Thanks, I'm going over to Emily's to celebrate, so I won't be back till morning." I say in a rush hoping she leaves.
"Oh okay, you don't want to celebrate with your family?" She asks trying to guilt trip me. I know how this family works, my feelings are played with so much around the house that this plan didn't effect me.
"No mom, I need to spend some time with my friends. School starts back up Monday and I have only two days to spend time with them." I explain patiently.
"Fine, I barely have seen you all spring break, but go hang out with your friends I guess." She says angrily.
"Thanks mom, I have to change so....." I trail off and she leaves.
Sighing I slip on the outfit and start straightening my hair while putting on small amounts of make up. Mascara, lip gloss, and a faint bit of eye liner.
Satisfied with my look I run down the stairs. I only had five minutes to get to Emily's house.
I run out the door pretending to not hear my dad mutter "She's never home, one of these nights she'll get into trouble and expect us to pick up the pieces." To my mom.
I roll my eyes, I'm smarter then that to get in trouble. I'm only going to Emily's to celebrate, lighten up.
------
The only sound to be heard was the crunching of popcorn. Emily and me are sitting across from each other, both deep in thought.
This was a period of time(five minutes to be exact) in which we both had to think of a dare for each other. And since this was a 'celebration' it had to be extravagant.
The timer had gone off and I settled with my idea. Emily seemed thrilled with hers though.
"Okay, you first!" She exclaims grinning.
"Alright Emily Bradley, I dare you to go to the party" we dared each other based on a party, which we always went to after the daring. "and pretend to be drunk the whole time there, no matter what." I finish grinning. I know Emily is a very dramatic person and the whole thing will be hilarious.
Emily bursts out laughing in return. "Oh boy" she scratches the back of her neck still holding a goofy grin. "This shall be fun." She finishes.
"My turn." Now her grin is replaced by an evil smile, her hands rub together to complete the look. "Andrea Johnson, I dare you to spend thirty minutes in the closet-"
"Why is this so evil?" I cut off. She didn't make any sense sometimes.
"Oh reasons....now" her evil grin spreads. "let's go to this party, you deserve this."
------
What's going to happen at the party?
I'm still working it out myself. I know I know, I should be focusing on Raven, as I only have a week till it has to be finished.
This isn't going to be too much effort so sorry for the crap.
Andy is played by India Eisely. I literally love her.
