"Mom! Time to drop me to school!" I yell and continue down the steps.
"But it's only seven! Can't you wait a few more minutes?" My mom's whiny voice floats down.
Rolling my eyes, I walk into the kitchen and smile as I see my step-father already standing at the stove, flipping a perfectly round pancake on to a plate. He turns to me and smiles, shaking his head, "Still acting like a teenager is she?"
I giggle and nod, walking over to him to place a gentle kiss on his cheek," Good morning Gary, are those for me? If not can you make some for me because I haven't eaten since yesterday afternoon and I am starving." He laughs loudly at me while I rub my tummy."Go ahead and take all you want Soph," he says to me and I gladly grab a plate and pile three pancakes unto it.
"I WANT SOME TOO GARY!!!" my mom hollers as she drags herself into the kitchen, wearing a jeans and a sweatshirt.
"Of course love," Gary says at the same time I scrunch up my nose and asks her, "Did you even bathe?"
She smiles at Gary as he hands her a plate and then turns to me with a lazy smile on her face, "No. I refuse to bathe just to complete the awfully annoying task of dropping you to your school on the first day because I'm going back to sleep when I come home anyway."
I give her a disgusted look while Gary kisses her sweetly on her nose.
"Either way I still love you," he murmurs and I fix my eyes on my pancakes to give them some privacy.
.....
I walk out of the car and turn to wave as my mom pulls away. I look up at the dreary, dull building. The name of the school is painted in black on a peach background. As I walk up the steps, I feel a hand slide around my shoulder and I look to the side to see my best friend, Gordon since pre-school.
"What's up Sophia? Entering the school on the first day as SENIORSS THAT'S WHAT'S UP!!" he shouts in my ear and I roll my eyes as I realize he used his 'nickname' that he has given me the first time we met. His brown hair is blown slightly by the September wind and his light brown eyes are filled with humor as he teases me.
"It's too early for all that screaming, Gordan," I say and he smirks as we walk towards our lockers.
"It's never too early for screaming my dear," he states and I stick out my tongue at him as we each enter our codes for our lockers and retrieve the books that we need for the next class.
I glance down at his books and raise my eyebrow at him. He laughs, "It's not my fault all the chicks love a guy who can cook."
"Gordon...you do know that they separate the boys and girls for home econ, right?" I smirk this time as his face turns to one of disbelief.
"Are you-"
I don't hear the rest of his sentence as a gasp runs through the crowded hallway. That's when I saw him for first time. He glared at everyone who dared to walk in his way and he had a cigarette tucked behind his ear. His dark hair fell on his forehead and he was clad in a tight black T-shirt, black skinny jeans and combat boots. On his right hand, I catch a glimpse of an entire sleeve of tattoos which are not covered by the T-shirt's short sleeves.
That has to be against the dress code....right? I mean you can see his muscles through the thin black material and that can surely be counted as a distraction.....
"That's Evan Rodgers," a girl's squeaky voice interrupts my thoughts and I turn to see Cherise, the school's slut clad in a barely-there red dress, talking to her friend who has a pink version of the same 'dress' on .
"I heard he got expelled from three schools before he came here. He's really hot though," her friend, Victoria, whispers back, clearly whispering loudly on purpose.
The boy-Evan-smirks as he walks past us, apparently hearing them gossiping about him. His eyes meet mine and for a moment I'm caught off guard before I hastily look away.
The bell shrieks and I turn to Gordon, " Um...what do you have second?"
"Gym, what do you have?"
"Gym. Meet me at the Chemistry classroom?" I suggest and he nods and we both part ways for first period.
