Chapter 12: Lunch with Deron

I tried to hide my smile by looking down , I did that every once in a while when I get shy around boys who are cute or I like them , Deron didn't let me put my head down he kept lifting my head up.

" Don't hide it butterfly, embrace it." He started smiling again and he opened his passenger door open to his Bentley and I got in. He went around to the driver side and got inside he looked over at me and wink then started his car up and drove out the parking lot, it was silent in the car I didn't speak and Deron just kept driving then every once in awhile he will look at me and either smile or wink. We pulled up to a little cafe spot called "chill" he parked his car and got out and I slowly pulled the handle and got out of the car and Deron once agained wrapped his arm around my shoulder and we walked inside of the cafe, we sat by the window and a waitress came over to us I order some brown rice and talipa with some hot sauce and Deron order a club sandwich and some baked lays chips, once the lady left Deron looked at me and smiled.

" So, tell me about Payton." He smiled and I looked down at the table and started to speak slowly and low gosh I can't believe how shy I'm acting

" Well ummm......." I bit my bottom lip nervously

" Butterfly you don't have to act shy around me I won't judge u baby promise me." He reached and grabbed my hand but I quickly moved my hand and placed them on my lap. I am getting overwhelmed I'm gonna bust Leroy's ass when I see him for leaving me with this boy I do not know ugh Leroy's gonna get it. i finally decided just to open up to Deron. I might need him later on in this school year so let me just stop acting shy and just talk. I took a deep breath and looked up from the table looked at Deron and smiled.

"My name is Payton Jones, I just moved to LA from Brazil a month ago and I'm still pretty new to LA and it's people but I'll get use to it. I am 16 birthday is in 2 more weeks." I looked at Deron and he was smiling

" Bout time little butterfly den came outta the cocoon." I smiled

"Now what about you."

"My name is Va'is , but I hate that name so I just tell everybody my name is Deron since it's my middle name. My mom is French so that's how I got my first name but my dad gave me a regular African American middle name so I thank him for that, I love football and got a scholarship last year to play for Iowa once I graduate. So I guess that's good." Our food came and we started to eat it and it was very delicious and we also continued our conversation and I learned a lot about Deron.
