Chapter One

Two Years Later...

TY'S POV:

Two years since Brielle's death. Her last words kept rewinding inside my head.

"I love you, Ty Keegan Simpkins"

Those were her last words. That was the last time I ever heard her sweet, innocent voice. Her last laugh. Her last giggle. Her last breath.

We were thirteen. So young, so innocent.

And now two years had passed, I had found a new girl. Lyla. She had the same features as Brielle. Long, wavy brown hair, fair skin, almost the same laugh. But she'll never be the same as Brielle.

Me and Lyla sat on the couch, watching Mean Girls for what seemed like the thousandth time. "Hey, Ty?" she nudged me. "Hm?" I responded lazily. "You have ten bucks I can borrow?" she intertwined her fingers with mine. I awkwardly pulled away. "What's wrong?" her grin turned upside down. "I just don't think we're meant to be, Lyla" I started. "Are you breaking up with me?" she didn't sound sad, more like bratty. "Y-yeah" I stuttered, scratching the back of my neck. "You fucking asshole!" she slapped my face, giving it a slight tingle afterwards. Shr grabbed her purse and stormed off.

She slammed the door so hard, that the chandelier above me shook.

"What was that?" Ryan complained while walking downstairs. "Lyla" I heaved, rubbing my cheek. "That bitch again?" she sat down the couch beside me. "Wait, so you didn't like her?" I asked. "Nope" she shook her head. "But you two really hit it off the other day"

"It's called acting, Ty" she grabbed the bowl of popcorn on the coffee table. I shrugged.

"Hey, so, tomorrow is Brielle's second anniversary. You wanna come with me to the cemetery tomorrow?"

"I'd rather not..." I sighed, reminiscing her last moments of life. "Come on, she'll really appreciate it" Ryan placed her arm around me. "Okay, sure" I shrugged. "Afterwards, we'll go watch a Phillies game or something"

I smiled and nodded.
