"Right, so turn left here to get to the bathroom, and downstairs through the second door is the kitchen. Got it?"
"Yes, I think so. It's a cosy place you have here." Maki replied to Kido's hurried whistle-stop tour of the HQ.
"Now, here - upstairs - is where we have all the rooms. Problem is, we're kinda short for space..."
"No, it's okay, I don't mind sleeping on the sofa." Maki tried to reassure, smiling to make it more believable.
There came a cry from one of the doorways, Marry bursting out excitedly and almost tripping over. "Wait, wait!! There's a spare bed in here~! Momo's going on a tour, so she won't be back for a few weeks! You're more than welcome, Maki-san!"
"And I promise I won't snore!" Takane said, poking her head out of the door and signalling a cheerful grin.
Maki was delighted at how considerate everybody was being. In fact, they had all been so nice since she had agreed to stay. Honestly, she couldn't have asked for more. She felt the ecstatic loudness and abundant company would be quite disrupting compared to her usual peace and quiet, but warm too. All things were adding into one and going better than she could have expected.
"Well, I guess that solves it, then," Kido smiled, glad that such an opening did appear.
"Yes! It will so lovely to share a room with you!" Maki replied, bowing to her new roommates.
"No, no! We're glad to have you with us as well!" Ayano cheered, appearing from behind Takane and Marry.
All faces were met with mirroring smiles, and the room filled with them. As Momo packed all her necessary belongings as well as a dozen pairs of shoes and sets of make-up, Maki emptied her few items into a corner of the room and hung her long green coat on a hanger.
Momo was sad that she could not spend more time to get to know Maki, but she left with the guarantee from Maki that she would still be there when she came back. Waves of good luck sent Momo out of the door with a smiling wave back and a "see you soon!" from out of the limousine door.
"Do you have a toothbrush and flannel, Maki?" Kido checked as they head back indoors.
"Sadly, no. Sorry."
"It's okay. We can go into town and get some provisions. Plus we seem to have run out of soda..." Kido admitted with a sigh, casting a worrying glance towards Shintaro who was collapsed on the sofa at lack of his favourite beverage and practically frothing at the mouth. "It's like he's addicted to it and is experiencing withdrawal..." She muttered with a chuckle, but Maki didn't find it amusing and carried on the conversation.
"When should we head out?"
"After lunch," Kido said, checking her watch, "It's getting close to two 'o' clock..."
"Will Shintaro-kun be okay until then?" A concerned Konoha asked, walking by with a box of drumsticks in his hand.
"Yeah, I think he'll survive..." Kido answered lightly with a grin and a look to the side.
"Oh good! I'm glad!" Konoha cheered, moving on to get some mustard for his meal.
"Now... what to have for lunch?" Kido continued, meandering over to the kitchen and pulling the apron over her head. "Hey, Maki. What d'you want?"
"Oh, I don't mind, really..."
"You aren't making this easy for me..."
"Okay, then! Um... What do you have?"
