Liam and I had arranged to meet at 6pm at Marys Milkshake Shack, which was near the seafront. I had spent the whole day pampering myself: I painted my nails baby blue, I washed, blow dried and curled my hair then I applied some mascara, bronzer, black kohl and clear lip gloss. I was wearing a checked skater skirt, white crop top and white converse - I decided to dress casual.
My dad gave me $20, then I left the house at 5:50 as the milkshake shack wasnt far away. I had butterflies in my stomach as I was walking along beach to go on the date, I kept thinking about Liams smile and how he made me feel when I was around him.
The milkshake shack was in eye distance before I knew it, my eyes were scanning the area to see if I could find Liam. Then I saw him, he was holding two milkshakes and was looking around - presumably for me. I shouted his name, "Liam!" and he saw me, he looked at me directly and I felt my heart racing in my chest.
"You look stunning Sapphire" Liam said as I approached him and he looked like he truly meant it.
"You dont look too bad yourself" I replied cheekily, it was true though, he did look incredibly sexy. He was wearing a navy Hollister top that showed off his impressive biceps, with cream shorts and white vans.
"I bought you that strawberry milkshake I owed you" Liam said holding it out for me. I chuckled and accepted the milkshake.
"We dont really know eachother, so I thought we could roast some marshmallows (he pointed at a lit fire nearby on the beach) and just talk" said Liam.
So I said, "Sounds good". I sounded quite casual but inside I felt honoured that he would of gone to that trouble - it was so sweet of him.
We walked over to the lit fire hand in hand, and sat down crossed legged opposite eachother, it felt so romantic.
I spoke first, "So, I dont even know your last name?!"
Liam sniggered then said, "Haha, my last name is Howard. Liam Ashton Howard, I know your last name as you said it to Matt yesterday, but whats your full name?".
"Sapphire Leah Stewart, so do you live here full-time?" I asked whilst eating a marshmallow
"Nice, and yeah I've lived here since I was 10 and im 17 now, how old are you?" said Liam
I replied, "Im 16, I turn 17 on September 22. I usually live in New York with my mum but she has bought us to my dads place for the summer, they divorced when I was 11"
"That must of been tough. Ah, so im a year above you. I go to the local college and hopefully will get into Yale next year, studying sport" said Liam.
"Yeh I took the whole seperation pretty badly. Woah you've got your future laid out, I want to go to a art college in Georgia, but my parents want me to stay on at high school".
"My parents are strict about my education, my dad owns a company and my mum works for it too, what do your parents do?" said Liam
I replied, "My dad is an architect, my mum is an elementary school teacher and my mums new partner, Brian works at the same school as my mum - thats where they met".
"Ah cool, do you like Brian?" asked Liam
"Yeh he's okay, I hated him at first but we get along ok now" I answered.
We carried on chatting for a while and when it was about 8pm we decided to grab a slice of pizza and have a little paddle.
After we had a slice of pizza each, we ran down to where the tide had gone in and threw off our shoes, ready to paddle.
"Its absolutely freezing, come on Sapphire" Liam shouted.
I braced myself then put a foot in and went over Liam. It was quite peaceful, looking at the glittering moon whilst we held hands. I felt Liam turn to look at me so I looked at him, and I realised he was going to kiss me. He moved his head close to me then slowly put his lips on mine, it was slow and soft; it felt just as good as it did yesterday. I didnt want the kiss to end.
After a minute or two we pulled away and caught our breath. Then we slowly walked back to our shoes and Liam walked me home.
We didnt speak as he walked me home; words werent needed.
