David' s P.O.V.

I awoke with a poke on my shoulder. With eyes half closed in sleep, I made out the image of the little boy, Devin, looking at me with a ever-watching eyes. Blinking a few times, the world around me became clearer. The elders and the pups were being lead out of the shelter, yet Devin had stayed behind with me.

The thought made my wolf smile, happy that he would like to be with us.

"Devin, are you ready to get out of here?" I asked, a smile on my face.

Dvin looked around then nodded a yes. Gentley, I scooped his little body into my embrase and made our way out. His little arms rapped snuggley around my neck, and he tucked his head on my chest.

But as we made our way outside, my worst fears lay before me.

The pack house lay in pieces all over the yard....

Lucia's P.O.V. 

Recap:

Just as soon as the dark vortex had dragged me in, it spit me out. Into screaming winds, and flooding rain, I fell down to the world of man.

My wings worked frantically to slow the fall, water blinding my vision. My wet hair stuck to my face, making the whole thing much harder. Faster and fast, the ground came into view. My heart was shattered, my life destroyed, friends hated me, so why was I fighting?

Closing my eyes, I let it all go.

The pointless anger, the pain coming from my chest.

With a small smile, she fell to her death....

*Flashback*

"Please, Gabriel...." I pleaded, my back pressed agianst the dirty, concret floor of my cell. The cold surface brought confort to my burning skn, caresseing over the constent hurt coming from my open wounds. Large gashes dripped with my immortal blood, forming little puddles of gold.

My best friend- my brother-sat outside my cell door. He didn't make a move to help me, didn't confort me as the pain became unbariable. The silence rested heavely against the sofficating dark.

"Help....please...Gabriel, I need you. Brother, I begg Thee. Help.... ?" My voice, a mix of pain and broken tears.  

 It seemed like hours...years, before he said those three little words that would forever haunt me.

"Never again, Lucia." his voice whispered in the dark.

*Morning*

This must be Hell, for nothing could be more horrblie than this. My whole body felt broken, and my wings...they flet like they had been ripped out from my body. The worst feeling came from my screaming lugs, desprate for air that had been almost impossible to retreave. Coughing, I rolled over on the sharp stones and threw-up the water from my lungs. My breathing came in half sobbs, half gasps, as my bleeding hands clawed my shaking frame into an up right possion. Where was this place? 

 Blinking a few times, my eyes landed on the flowing river not three feet away from my dirty feet. The sound of a softly moving water was music to my ears, yet it could do nothing for my bleeding soul. All at once, memmories of what had happpened returned with a vengence. Gabriel.....

Raising my hands towards my face, I staired down at the bloody cuts lacing my flesh. Little pices of rock lay embedded into the skin, yet all it did was remind myself of what was no longer my own. My Father, my home; all abandended me a long time ago.

Wincing, I struggled to stand, only to fall hard onto the rough river stones. Yet, in heart a little voice whispered to keep going, and to never give up.

Courage, Lucia, Courage! You are strong.

Each step burned, but I forced myself forward.

This wasn't the end of my story.

It was only the beginning....
