Haper's POV

"Miss...Miss...the plane is about to land you must put your seat in the upright position, thank you." The flight attendant told me as she got my attention.

I mean I was always tired due to my sleeping pattern because of everything that had happened back in LA. Insomnia seemed to be my new best friend ever since that night. The only way I could sleep was when I haven't slept for a few days. I somehow have to manage to tire myself out to fall asleep. Even medication hasn't been helping.

I pulled my seat into the upright position and began waiting for the landing at the famous airport of JFK.

I got through baggage claim fairly quick and saw Connor waiting at the pick up area. I mean he was extremely hard to miss with him being six foot two and all. I approached him and he smiled a sad smile at my appearance and he pulled me into a hug.

"Jesus Harper you look like a zombie." He stated talking the way I looked.

"Yeah." I said back having nothing else to say.

He grabbed my bags and pulled them along to the exit gesturing for me to follow him. He dragged the bags to the car while I just had my backpack and my carry on. We were walking through the parking lot when we finally reached a black Jeep Wrangler he opened the trunk and put all my luggage in the car including my carry on. I kept my backpack with me because it held all my valuables.

The elephant in the room, well car was awaiting us. Before he put the car in reverse he looked at me and put his hand on my knee tapping it lightly as a supportive gesture.

"How are you holding up kiddo?" Connor asked concern clearly written all over his face.

"Fine." I said completely lying. But, I have been lying to everyone since that night.

"I'm your older brother, you can talk to me alright?" He asked cautiously treating me like glass as if I would break.

"Don't look at me like that." I told him coldly.

"Like what?" He asked.

"Like I'm going to break any minute. I expected that from the rest of the world, but not you." I told him, offended with how he was treating me.

He remained silent after that. Until we made it to his house.

"After everything that happened, when I got custody of you the court said that one condition of me being your guardian was that I would have to take you to see a therapist. I made an appointment with a therapist who is supposed to be one of the best for.... traumas. She got recommended to me by a friend of mine."

"I'm not crazy okay, I don't need help. I'm seventeen for crying out loud. If anyone was put in the position I was in they would be acting the same exact way." I defended myself.

"I know, I know it isn't up to me. It was a condition from the court, okay? Until the therapist says you can stop going you have to go twice every week." He said scared of my reaction.

"Fine and this therapist of yours will realize that I'm perfectly sane and don't need to be there." I stated furious that he brought this up.

I remained silent for the rest of the car ride to his house. My brother was a twenty year old sophomore at NYU so he decided to buy a house on Long Island because he felt the city was too much for him. He only lives about thirty minutes from the city and is in walking distance to a train station. This isn't my first time on Long Island. I used to come almost every year for spring break. The only difference is that this time I'm here to stay, until I go to college.
