"Don't you worry your pretty little mind, people throw rocks at things that shine." ~ Taylor Swift  (Ours)

---------------------------------------------------------

"Put the gun down or I'll shoot you," my voice comes out ruthlessly. A clank of metal on wood indicates to me that the man has followed my instruction. I send a glance to Carter and he sweeps the gun of the terrace with his foot.

"Good, now give it to me!" the bitterness in my voice, surprises me.
"Please, I'm begging you. They'll kill me. I have young children." the man drops to his knees.

"Are there no orphanages? Now pass it to me or I will kill everyone you hold dear. Make no mistake," I say truthfully. The man hesitates for a moment. He devulges into his pocket and pulls it out.

Very small but very lethal. Overlooked but could make us the most powerful people in history. The shimmering of the casing lights up in the man's shaking hand. This small memory drive carries the power of destruction and now it's ours.

Still aiming my gun, I dauntingly walk forward and pull the drive from the man.
"Pleasure doing business," I smirk wickedly. I shoot Carter a look and he reads it instantly.

Hearing the agonizing grunts of the man, I saunter out the building, fixing myself up to avoid suspicion. Not long later Carter joins me and wipes the blood from his knuckles with a rag.

Pressing a button on my ear piece, I say slowly and quietly,
"Lyndon, we're done. Come pick us up."

Standing on the pavement, I lock my gun in it's case and slip the memory drive into my inside jacket pocket. I tug my messy mane into a high ponytail and wipe any trace of blood and sweat from my face. Nothing I haven't done a million times before.

The familiar black van that Lyndon usually drives fades into view. Carter gets in and extends his hand for me. Always the gentlemen. I brush away his hand and pull myself in.

"Did you get it?" Lyndon asks in his usual cheery voice.
"Have I ever failed?" I say full of vanity.
"Yes, we should stop underestimating you," Lyndon laughs.
"and you," I direct to Carter, "I don't need anybodies help, ever."
"You do one nice thing for you and you get shot down," Carter grunts, "he really messed you up."
"He messed us all up," I snap.

"Do you want something to eat?" Lyndon asks.
"No, just keep driving," I say harshly. I see sadness in Lyndon's eye and that is when I realise I have been way to harsh on these boys.
"but thank you for the offer. I really do appreciate it," I mutter.
Lyndon replies with an eye to eye smile.

Silence wavers in the air, leaving a foul feeling. Rows of boulevards and avenues pass. Millions of cosy houses but not one that I can call my own. The dull evening sky looks as if a disaster is going to spring out. The brutal rattling of the car shakes me about; probably trying to knock humanity back into me. But that girl I once was is gone and this is who I am now. This is how I will forever remain.
